it's kind of just how it is in sports clubs. Kenma also mentioned it when he met Hinata; sports clubs have a stricter relationship between upperclassmen and lowerclassmen. Reasons this fandom knows so much about Haikyuu!!: 1. It's based on a real sport, which gives access to real world info. 2. It's partially based on real life experiences of the creator. 3. Furudate (writer & illustrator) himself incorporates detailed meanings to simple things such as names, which made the fandom eager to decipher them. 4. It's a long running franchise with the manga having completed its run through the span of 8 years (Feb 2012 - July 2020).

- the O in Kurou is pronounced like the "Oh" in "Oh my god" - vanguard basically just means front row. - Small attention to detail: Hinata has received with his face so often people dont even react to it anymore. Just go "COVER FOR IT!" - "Ryu" in Ryunosuke (tanakas first name) means "Dragon" and "Tora" in Taketora means "Tiger" which are i think depicted as enemies/rivals in japan??? Or something like it?? Im not that good on that front so i might be wrong. I just think its interesting. - also lil interesting note: it's kiyokos job to note stuff like successful blocks, service aces, quicks and the like (at least it was def mentioned one time), i think that's amazing Honestly the character interactions between the teams are one of the many selling points of the series. Its not just all villains or heros, it's actually just a bunch of highschool boys being passionate about volleyball, which is beautiful.
@magacofi4 жыл бұрын
Yes, dragons and tigers are often pictured as rivals (although I don't if this is japanese as much as chinese, or if it is a bit generalized in some parts of Asia overall), since the dragon is symbolized as the ruler in heaven, and the tiger as the ruler in earth, so it's a contrast of sorts. Sometimes I think I've seen phrases along the lines of "if the dragon grows complacent it'll be dethroned by the rising tiger" or "a tiger can sometimes reach the dragon" in cases where the contrast is used to picture an underdog fighting against bigger odds, but in Haikyuu I'm pretty sure that one is not the case.

1:10 Actually, Coach Donny, this extensive knowledge in anime only ever happens when several conditions are met: 1) The story has a rich lore (can be totally original or deeply connected with real life concepts). 2) There is noticeable amount of wordplay and symbolisms that are either explicitly stated (Tsukishima and Hinata's surnames) or subtly incorporated (Tanaka and Yamamoto's which requires a bit of Japanese language and cultural knowledge to understand) in the plot. 3) The fandom is extremely passionate. In the case of Haikyuu, all of these conditions are met, coupled with the fact that the author of the source material is highly respected in both the industry and his fans for his works having everything that makes a story good: organic storytelling and characters, immersive plot progression, and easy to digest symbolisms.

Nekoma is known as a team with good defense, their coach's mindset is that as long as the ball doesn't fall on their side of the court, it's okay even If it gives the other team a chance ball. I think that's why the animation was showing Hinata receiving the ball accidentally in the face or chest to show the difference of the teams receiving skill. That's also the reason Ukai said that Nekoma is lvl 10 even though they don't have Asahi like spikers because everyone of their players has solidified their receiving skills while Karasuno is lvl 1 even though they have great spikers because only few players can have a solid receive like Daichi and Nishinoya. Here are some Japanese School system and Sports Calendar notes that I think are important. This is basic information, and contains absolutely no spoilers. It is purely so you are able to understand the timeline as it happens. Unlike American school, the Japanese school year begins in April and ends in March and is divided into three terms. The terms are as follows: First Term: April-July Summer Vacation: August (yes it is in the middle of the school year) Second term: September-December Third Term: January-March End of March: Graduation for Third Year students There are two National Tournaments per year, and they are . Instead of having separate tournaments for ‘states’ (prefectures for Japan) and Nationals, the Prefectural tournament is just a qualifier for Nationals. The first tournament of the school year is called the InterHigh. The entire tournament from Prefecturals to Nationals takes place in June, towards the end of the first term. The second tournament of the school year is called Spring InterHigh and is not in Spring, but instead the qualifiers are in October, in the middle of the second term. Nationals aren’t until January, towards the beginning of the third term.

What is the most satisfying thing you have done in volleyball. Was it watching a team you coached win, a spike, a block?

i once got a big compliment for my serves from the opposing coach after we lost a match. I felt really happy and got a huge burst of confidence from that.

I'd love a video about Kuroo's delayed spike, the "old-school play". Also, Mohawk-guy's name is "Yamamoto Taketora"; most people call him "Yamamoto". Great video, as always.

In the ending, that's Hinata back in middle school, when his team lost against Kageyama's in that tournament.

I have a feeling coach will start using Haikyuu refences when he coaches teams now. Like when he's trying to be inspirational and says something like, "c'mon! let's get that Kurasuno spirit, Nice serve" or "It's okay to feel discouraged right now, but just like Asahi you too will recover".

22:56 Hinata : *does the naruto run* Kageyama : Hinata's aura...... LOL XD
@MrTheFitt4 жыл бұрын
@36:30 I think that's Hinata back in middle school. Green uniform and dark background which symbolized that he was feeling alone or more like doesn't feel that team vibe/spirit in contrast to what he feels now with Karasuno.
@3xtremevenom3854 жыл бұрын
I didn't get to tell you this last episode but I will tell you now, remember when you said that Kageyama should have kept his hands in rather than out? Well, haikyu focuses on volleyball, yes. But it also focuses on a big portion of development. Basically what I'm trying to tell you is that both Kageyama and Hinata progress a lot in the show, same with the others of Karasuno, and even others from different teams, just thought I should let you know this!

For vanguard they just mean the “front line” of the court. As you can see, they say that when someone (Kuroo/Asahi) rotate from back line to front line

The good thing about haikyuu is that the author doesn't only stick around at KARASUNO but he's also trying to make other teams get a chance to shine and make character development at the same time. And one more thing, haikyuu isn't about only HINATA and KAGEYAMA it's about ALL the characters you'll see in the near future. And of course VOLLEYBALL.

I'm not sure if anyone have already said this. But if you realize Nekoma's coach said "Let's meet again at Nationals" because their schools are not from the same prefecture (or we called it as states) so they can only compete with each other at National level. Karasuno is from Miyagi prefecture while Nekoma from Tokyo and that's why Tanaka often called the mohawk guy as "city boy"

Vanguard generally means someone who's on the front lines, so when the show says someone becomes the vanguard, they simply mean that the player came to the front row of the court

"A team with strong spikes doesn't win. The team that drops the ball loses." I love that quote to this day, as strong as your hitters are solid defense/receivers can change the game entirely 👌🏻

I swear Tanaka and Coach Ukai are like the same person sometimes even though coach was a setter and Tanaka is a spiker. The scene where they both went gray and had sharp teeth this episode really showed it. And an episode or two back also showed it because in high school Coach Ukai had a shaved head as well. They just have similar attitudes and Coach Ukai was probably an enforcer at one point as well. There are other similarities as well but I don't want to spoil them yet.

Kuroo is pronounced as Ku-Roo as in ‘rowing the boat row’ with more stress on “O” Details in the animation is what I first see and I am soo happy that you always point that out and appreciate the great work animators put in it! Great work by you too, Coach! I’m not a sports person and I started watching this anime on a whim, and now, this anime motivated me in my own career! Making me better in my own profession. That’s why I love this anime so much!

Its funny the fact that coach likes Tanaka alot. he is also the favorite of Yuji Nishida of Japan national team. i guess aggressive spikers like other aggressive spikers.
