Love these cars & you're right Jay they are torque monsters. The Stage 1 & the Olds W-30 both had 510FPT.

In 1968, when I was 23, I purchased my first car. A 1968 BUICK GS400 Convertible. Red with White top and interior. Chrome mag wheels. Boy, did I love this car ! It was hard keeping your foot off the pedal once you were on the freeway. I remember once driving through San Luis Obispo from L.A. to San Jose to visit my folks. I got stopped and ticketed for going 88 ! I was 23 ! 😂😂😂😂😂

Looks to be an example of one of the 'transition' cars that has a mix of early sequence and regular production parts.

Surprised that it doesn't have the rally steering wheel.
@bbb462cid9 ай бұрын
I had both in my own; I swapped to a rallye wheel when I found one. This was before repros were out there.. The wheel you see here is not as attractive I agree, but is much better for actually driving.

I was going to comment the same thing; especially with having the guage package.

In the gauge cluster, what option is missing in the far right slot with the Buick logo? The comparable far left slot is an AC vent, I believe.
@bbb462cid9 ай бұрын
Convertible roof switch and...something else but I don't quite recall. Left 'slot' is part of the astro-ventilation system. There are pull out knobs in each footwell for upper and lower vents. My '70 convertible with no a/c had those vents. If you had a/c I'm not sure if both vents were there or not. I sold my chassis manuals and all documentation with the car years ago....but that is where my roof switch was, it was a rocker that centered when not in use but was moved left or right to move the roof up or down. Loved that car, I had it for 31 years.
@@daveklein2826 yes I think so too. I was into these cars heavily for decades and if the car is as represented, and I see no reason to think it is not, then not a huge price. But the VIN will not ID a 1970 GS455 Stage 1 as a Stage 1. The VIN will have the same codes (except for sequence number which is always unique) as a GS455. You have to know what other parts match up to make the car a '70 GS455 Stage 1- carb, distributor, and transmission numbers. Also all '70 GS455 Stage 1s were built at Flint. If it is missing the "H" after the zero (meaning 1970) in the VIN then it's not a '70 GS455 Stage 1, H was Flint's code. Nothing here jumps at me as wrong.

Nice GS 455. You never see a red one. My guesstimate $75k

I set my ring tone as a fart sound over a year ago to be funny. It gets laughs so I left it. I set my phone down during videos shots, it has actually gone off many times.😂
