Once in a lifetime find! 21,000 actual miles, 2 owners. An unrestored original survivor that could compete against a restored show car. The car feels and functions amazingly good. 1st owner until 2014 with 18,000 miles. 2nd owner serviced the car and very carefully enjoyed about 3,000 miles.
EXTERIOR: It is absolutely incredible that this car is original and looks as good as it does. The factory tuxedo black paint will still hold it's own in any car show. Only minor imperfections if you look for them. The body is absolutely rust free, accident free and straight. All the panels fit square and flush. The doors click shut even with the windows up, which by the way the windows roll up and down so effortlessly. The trim is also outstanding original condition. It's all straight, beautiful, shiny, not banged up. Has the original antenna. The vent window pillars are smooth and shiny, the trim on top of the doors and down the sides are mint. Has the cross flag emblems which let's people know there is a 327 under the hood. Really, all the trim on this car is a 9 out of a 10. Original glass us crystal clear. Jambs are clean, original weatherstrips are still soft with a few little cracks. Tires were replaced with reproduction BFG Silvertowns. The spinner wire hubcaps are pristine. Has four original T-3 headlights.
INTERIOR: The red against the black is unbeatable. It is actually almost unbelievable, this interior is pristine. It could be packaged and sold as new. Not just the upholstery and carpet but all the trim and details too. Even up under the dash is excellent. Every piece of bright work is mint. Dash area is like new. Has optional tachometer and padded dash. The console is perfect, even inside it. Door panels, headliner, visors are excellent. Has a retro stereo in the factory hole. Interior lights all work. Seat springs still feel good. Has deluxe seatbelts. From carpet to headliner it is like new.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: It has it's original numbers match 327-300 hp which comes with a 4-barrel carb. It runs as smooth as a mouse in slippers. It's been carefully repainted Chevy orange. All original components- glass fuel bowl, air cleaner, manifolds etc. Still has the original glass bottle for the washer fluid. Has reproduction GM hoses and clamps. Also has reproduction Delco battery with spring clamp battery cables. Still has assembly line crayon markings on firewall and under the hood it says SS.

Absolutely beautiful. I would take these old American cars any day over the most expensive supercar out there. It may not drive as good or be near as fast but to me this automobile is more beautiful and far more desirable than anything the rest of the world has to offer.

I had a 64, red, 283, automatic, rust bucket lol. Cost me $300 in 1972. Drove it all over the country. When I was in Cal., I ran out of money and had to get a job for awhile. Cop stopped me one night because I had Mn. plate's, He found out I was living there and wrote me a ticket for it and also gave me 1 week to get Ca. drivers license. when I registered the car they forced me to get some kind of anti smog crap on the engine, it never ran right again, ended up in a junk yard. Loved that car, my 1st car.

My Dad was territorial manager for GMAC and he got a new company car every year. in 1963 He had a 1963 Chevy impala which was one of his favorites. In 1964 He got a 1964 Chevy Impala. At first we did not like the flat front end but we came to love it.The 1963 had two bumper guards while the 1964 did not. You had to be very careful to put the jack in the right spot or the bumper would bend. We were having the tires rotated and the service station used a dual hydraulic jack that created two half moons on the rear bumper which had to be replaced.

@@VoloMuseumAutoSales I speak from 48 years in the automobile business. The car in question was a 67 Camaro convertible, bought without an inspection. When the customer brought the car in, I told him it was junk. The car had been hit on the passenger side. The rear axle tube had broken from the diff housing, but was horribly reattached, and leaking gear oil. The right front spring had 3 of those twist in bits to "raise" the ride height. Even with that the r/f was still 3/4" lower than the left. And of course many other flaws in the overall repair to the car. Looked good from afar but clearly far from good. I called Volo on his behalf, describing what I found , and of course brought the car back. We put the car on the lift, pointed everything out and they agreed to refund his money. Going through your consignment cars , we found a 70 Chevelle that was an 8/10. And my customer worked out a deal. Problem solved, but could have been avoided with the prepurchase inspection.

Well, they rode badly, handled like an unloaded pick-up truck, the seats hurt your back after 250 miles and rough roads or railroad crossings would bang your head against the roof. They also DEMANDED maintenance every 3000 miles. If you got 5000 miles from a set of points and a condenser, you had always bought very good premium gasoline. Gulf No-Nox around here. Shoes on the drum brakes might last you 15,000 miles (no power brakes unless you special ordered them, and hardly anyone did, or power steering save weight-go faster). GM's didn't come stock with BF Goodrich tires, they came with U. S. Royals, later Uniroyal "Tiger Paws" (NOT radials). Real stick-a-stick thru them wire wheels (that needed the spokes tightened) were the hot item. Figure at least a distributor cap and rotor every year (12,000 miles) and plugs twice that often. The Quad-tra-jet carb need an accelerator pump (made into the carb body and the screws often stripped out of the pot-metal ruining a $400 carb) every 10,000 miles, dual carbs had to be synchronized at every tune-up. Perspective on $400 in'64. The car cost less than $4000 new. Yeah! Every 25,000 miles a skinny block needs a valve job. A Rat might get away without a valve job, but both really needed rings every 50K miles, and the Rat needed the crank turned down as it "wore flat" and you had rod knock. Every 1960's GM motor made, from straight 6 up needed a major overhaul (cylinders bored, new pistons and rings and at least re-conditioned rods, head ground, cylinder deck flattened) by 75,000 miles. While you're in it, an oil pump, distributor shaft and bearings, and fuel pump are cheap. If you got 5 seasons from a radiator that was good, go ahead and replace the water pump while you're at it. Now when I filled up your car with 30 cent a gallon gas, I cleaned the windshield, checked the oil, the radiator, the battery, the brake fluid, power steering fluid if you had PS, the air in your new tubeless tires they hadn't worked all of the bugs out of yet, checked your fan belts and windshield wipers. Went and got you a pop outta the cooler with water, ice and salt in it, and when I opened your Pepsi, it would usually freeze into a slushy. If you gave me an extra quarter, that was a decent "tip". If you were with your girl friend, you'd give me a ten for gas and two pops and a pack of smokes and chips and say "keep the change buddy!" maybe 45 cents. NOW do you want one of our "Good ol' cars"??? I pumped gas for a living nearly two years in high school, and I know where every hidden gas filler is on the cars, under the tailight, on the back in a piece of chrome trim, up on the deck by the trunk, UNDER the trunk lid on Lincolns and some Mercurys. In the center of the spare tire on early VW's, IN FRONT. I did this for a whopping dollar an hour, and cleaned the restrooms (ugh!), swept the driveways, cleaned the windows in the station, changed oil and flat tires, replaced starters, radiators, hoses, belts, batteries, generators, just "minor" repairs. Now somebody wouldn't take $15 an hour to do that.

The glass IS NOT STOCK Libby-Owens-Ford "Saf-T-Lite". They aren't pale green tinted which all up-scaled Chevy models had and no LOF shield on the windows and windshield . My 1963 ChevyII Nova had that, the Bow-Tie mirror is off a 1962-63. 1964's had a rectangular mirror and Super Sports had them on BOTH sides. I don't think the interior rear-view mirror is a twist-flat-knob prismatic one either. That was stock on my Nova and all Malibus and Impalas. Exhaust system has been replaced as has the front fender antenna isn't stock. Impalas with factory radios in '62-'66 had twin rear fender angled back antennas, not an option, all of them were equipped that way for longer range AM reception. My uncle had a '62 and a '65 and I checked the Fisher Body Division of GM website for the specs. They ain't right.Typical "all original" car dealer. Come down to the Leake Auto Auction and you'll see REAL original Cords, Duesenbergs, Packards, Essex, La Salle's, a 1925 Chevrolet Brothers Coupe, even a 1940 Allison Cadillac V-16 convertible and a light blue 1962 Dodge Turbine car from Alluwe,OK.

Apart from the lack of modern safety systems (crush zones, ABS, Airbags), these cars would be fixed easily. Now you cannot do any repair without a $5000 scanner. Which is why modern cars will be impossible to maintan once they hit 8 years old.

I have to wonder how the cars that Maple Motors sell would stack up to the cars offered here at Volo? I get the feeling that the prices here would cause a Myocardial Infraction when you heard the price. I expect you could buy 10 cars at Maple Motors for what one would cost you here. But what would you be getting? I dont think actually there is any way to compare car for car these 2 dealers. Each is selling a different type of car

@Walkercolt1 4 жыл бұрын
You didn't own an SS 283. Didn't exist. 327 High Performance crossed flags marked on fender (Quad-Ra-Jet or hyper rare-less than 500 made- Hillenbrand fuel injection) or 409 crossed flags with a "409" shield on fender for twin carbed only on Super Sports from '62-'65. The fuel injected 327 made almost much horsepower (rated 350 vs: 360 or 365 for the "Rat") as the 409, but not as much torque and cost a LOT more money than the 409 but the Hi-Po engine weighed less and the car handled curves better. All SS 409s were equipped with "lake pipes" with slotted heat shields on both sides. The fuel injected 327 may have had side exhausts (they were an option on 327's) but I've only seen ONE fuel injected '60's Chevy in my life (except a '62 split window "Vette), a 1964 Chevelle Malibu SS with side pipes. "Toreador " Red with special-ordered dark grey printed/textured fabric seats. Didn't want to burn his butt on vinyl seats in Oklahoma summers.

@VoloMuseumAutoSales

Because KZbin is not automatically updated when we make changes in our dealer system. If I change the price or mark a vehicle sold in our dealer system, that updates across eBay, Hemmings, AutoTrader...ect. without any further work from us. We aren't integrated like that with our KZbin description. And putting it in the video makes it impossible to change. We've looked at creating a custom program that integrates with our dealer system and uses KZbin's API to achieve this. No promises, no timeline as when but we've heard the feedback about prices on KZbin plenty and are looking at it.

Nice car but a paint Gage doesn't get the job done because if this car is in fact a unrestored original the paint consistency would not be visible by a paint gauge these cars were all painted by hand so thickness of paint in certain areas would be heavier than in others and no two cars would be the same but a very beautiful car
