Thanks to you BZ. I got my ryzen 5600 to 4,65 ghz, and my ram from 3000Mhz to 3600 Mhz. the problem was that my x470 ultra gaming bumped my soc to 1.2V ,when I set it t 1V it all worked out without errors.

Cheers on the heads-up about this board. Glad I dodged it a week ago when it boiled down to an X470 Prime vs. a Gaming 5. If you caught this message pre-edit, forget about it, I just found another video dealing with Ryzen and RAM overclocking of course.

I bought this motherboard because it has a better audio solution than other similarly priced boards. I did not expect great VRMs or voltage control, but I only have a 1600X.

I bought this board and I am thinking I might have to stop buying Gigabyte boards... On stock with 2600X it has no issue pushing up to 1,45V into CPU, it does drop if I run Prime, but still has no issue sending more than it needs, which generates more heat and then needless heat. Same with SOC, like I could do SOC +0V and it would run like 10C cooler... needless to say it heated more than expected, so I actually had to set negative offset to voltage. Which together with probably pretty good violation of TDP caused too high temperatures. Of course it also didn't help that temperature sensor for case fans is defaulted to System 1, which wouldn't be bad if that darn thing wasn't below graphic card and of course always cold. Not to mention voltages were even on idle jumping up and down, which lead to temperatures jumpin, which lead to fans jumping in speed up and down and that lead to me realizing I might want to buy quieter fans. But latter I just set fans to VRM temperature. Also while testing I noticed board doesn't really like if I set too many settings. When I gave it 3,9Ghz, with Vcore of 0,030V, and VSOC of +0,0V, it will boot and work fine, it survives prime, temepratures are great and all that. Except after day or two, it will decide it suddenly doesn't like to boot with those settings and will reboot, tell me it couldn't boot with base clock for unknown reason above 100Mhz and if I go to BIOS, save exact same settings, it boots fine and works fine, survives Prime, reboots and everything, till next cold boot. And in between there will be random cold boot that will go through just fine. But at least now I got lessons in TDP, cooling, tweaking whatever board allows me to and maybe to not buy Gigabyte board next time. So I guess it was educational. Also if anyone is still reading up to here, what is CPU VDDP even do? Doesn't matter if I set it low or high, there is just no difference. Because I really don't know why BIOS help even exists, because only thing help tells me is that CPU VDDP is to set CPU VDDP voltage offset.... because I totally couldn't figure that out myself. At least some other options are bit more honest and just tell you there is no help... :-D

FWIW, the X470 Gaming 7 seems to have a more full featured BIOS than this, and I've been really happy with it so far. I am pretty well used to the Gigabyte quirks by now after using them for a while though. One feature that I really don't want to do without is the external temp probes that are included with the 7, they connect to headers on the board and can be used to control fan curves. Awesome for wedging somewhere in a GPU VRM and controlling airflow over the card. Most other boards don't seem to have this and it's a killer feature for me as a quiet PC freak.

Hi. I have a GA-Z170-HD3 DDR3 , with a Kimgston HyperX Savage kit 2x8GB 2400MHz @ 10-13-13-30. I just bought a set of 2x8GB GSkill Trident X 2400MHz that works @ 10-12-12-31. Independently they work great. But when I put them together ( no matter how I set them in the slots (1-3 / 2-4) or (1-2 / 3-4) ) they only work with XPM profile at 2133 MHz. The motherboard only gets the profiles from the Kingston set. Even if I put very loose timings (12-14-14-32) it doesn't boot . Even with fully manual settings (no XMP) 1,65v I couldn't make them work at 2400MHz. At 2133MHz i can even put 9-11-11-28 timings and it work great @ 1.6v. At 2400MHz it doesn't work at all , even if I set mannualy 1.65v. Any thoughts what I can do to make them work together @ 2400MHz (even if with lower timings like 11-13-13-32) Bios version F21d. Thanks.

Yeah, I get 1V stock vid on the basic 2700 (although I have Aorus 7 and can set it to fixed value). What no one actually stressed, XFR2 and PBO are missing on 2700 non-X which makes it impossible to OC without getting extreme power consumption / heat figures

Buildzoid, just wondering if you can try with a newer version of HWInfo, since the one you're using for the test is pretty outdated, if it makes any difference. Sometimes HWInfo updates include "Enhanced Monitoring for X470 Brand X". Wonder if that makes any difference. Great work as always.

Good day. I have a X470 Ultra gaming MoBo, Ryzen 2700x, G.Skill FlareX 3200 CL14. I´m actually not interested in OC the CPU, I just want a good configuration in terms of voltages etc. in the bios and undervolt it, so the heat (mine´s getting quite hot -> even with a Dark Rock Pro 4!) output gets a little better. What configurations would you recommend? Just a couple of basics are enough. Thanks in advance and kind regards

I wonder, is the volt meter pulling a small amount of current and voltage and that's why it shows the difference from the motherboard and the meter?
@ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking6 жыл бұрын
The meter has 10 MΩ of resistance on both AC and DC voltage ranges. So no.
@truckerallikatuk6 жыл бұрын
Nothing big enough to make a big VRM like that to do anything different. It's going to be a change that's probably below the measurement abilities of the board and the meter.

The gigabyte b450 auros M mATX board does this too in regards to the voltage drop/incorrect measurements and how the bios is layed out. I know cause i just bought one before seeing this video sadly. Im a bit pissed. The only way i figured to overclock on this board with what i think is proper voltage readings in HWINFO is through p-state . BTW the "host clock" is locked on this board.. so no "BCLK" ocing on this board either.. whoohooo

Hoping someone can answer a question for me. I Have the Auros X470 Ultra Gaming and right now I have my Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium in the top PCIe 2.0 x1 slot. I have a Radeon RX 580 in the top PCIe x16 slot. The GPU is causing me major coil whine. I would like to move my Soundblaster card to the PCIe 2.0 X4 slot at the very bottom of the board. I did try this but windows did not seem to "see" the soundcard in this slot. Is there something I need to enable in the BIOS or something else???

Hey is it normal for a Strix 1080 to idle with GPU memory usage at 13:5% and memory controller load at 9% ? Also 15 watts power draw at idle according to HWiNFO63 5.84-3450, but i've see it in GPUz also. Memory clock is idling at 101 mhz GPU clock never goes below 607 mhz and Video clock at 556 mhz, this should be the x264 chip right ? for the video stuff and shadowplay.

Actually Hardcore Overclocking Can you comment on the quality of the Bios Releases? Because I apparently bricked my second one of those Gigabyte Boards, just by installing the newest Bios. After rebooting out of Windows 10 with the new Bios installed it just won't even Post, with a Post Loop and the red CPU LED active on the motherboard...RGB stopped working but fans keep spinning and no monitor signal...according to this support forum thread: forum.gigabyte.us/thread/3113/cpu-led-indicator-on-post Gigabyte mainboards can't really deal with any other Bios than the default one (f2). Especially in conjuction with the Gigabyte App which allows you to control motherboard funtions in Windows 10. It seems like after you install either one of them, the BIOS gets wiped completely. As I mentioned, this happened twice for me. Once on the Ultra Gaming and on the Gaming 7 Wifi. This really frustrates me, because I set up my whole system twice (I have no backups yet, because I just started using Windows 10) and it was all a waste of time. The first time it happened 3 days after I built the PC with the Ultra Gaming, the second time it happened after one day...what a shame that I found that thread afterwards I sent back the second board for RMA...oh and the dual Bios did not work either after that issue occured.

Got some 200 points in cinebench with a 3900x and this SHIT BOARD. Yeah old gigabyte board was nice, this new AMD boards sck. Lots of cinebenchruns and little undervolting (-100mV offset, depends on your board i guess) and your 8 deg colder at small ffts (69°C) and you get extra power. Overclocking hasnt had any better results with 4.3Ghz cause the vids drop like crazy with this board and you lose all control... Just get a ASUS board I guess....

Well fuck. I got my roomate to buy the x470 gaming 5 wifi. because he finally upgraded from his crappy old intel 4c4t pos. So for his budget a Ryzen 5 2600 (80 bucks cheaper then the X) and a x470 board for cheap? (for canada anyways) sounds awesome right?. So then Ive been trying to figure out why there was no LLC control. i mean its a x470 board how could it not have LLC right? fucking wrong. This is the first time ive seen that it just plain doesnt have it. So thankyou so much for that information. For his budget it was basically one of the only x470 boards to get, and with wifi it seemed like a much better deal then a b450 board. Lesson learned i guess. never ever again with a gigabyte product. what an absolute piece of garbage. Now i gotta apologize for suggesting he get this. I did get 4.1 stable but it took maxing out the offset to +.300, and according to cpuZ (if that reading was accurate) it was at 1.385 after droop. close to 1.45v at idle iirc. But his corsair hi60 aio was really struggling at that point and it kept going up past 85c after 10 min of prime 95. so i just took it off and left the shit stock. I suppose i could go back to lower settings i had found stable like 3.9 where i could keep the cpu below 75 degrees indefinitely with prime 95 but he doesnt really play many newer games that would actually use all 6c/12t's so just letting the stock turbo of 3.9 on two cores do its thing will be about the same for his game performance anyways so whats the point. I wanted to get to 4.1 all core, dial it in all nice but i had no idea gigabyte bios was this shitty. hell, getting my personal machines 1800x up to 3.9 on an Asrock b350m pro4 with no llc was easier and more confidence inspiring than this garbage.
