Mitch, this is a grand expansion to the fantastic Voltage Modular Environment. Cherry Audio continues to go the distance. Great demonstration and video. Keep it rolling.

I love the cheezy interlude tunes. They really are reminiscent of 80s TV shows.

Very wel explained. My first synth was a Yamaha DX100 in the 80's. It was quite difficult to program, but had some nice sounds. So much has changed with the Voltage Modular. So much easier to come up with nice sounds. Love it!

This is vert cool. I always needed special software for my TX816. Nice to have it all in an integrated package. Stay well.

For me, FM synthesis like the DX series is kind of underrated these days. They were very overutilized when they were new, so I think they fell out of favor. They were on EVERYTHING, especially that DX7 electric piano. There were a lot of cool sounds though, the lead sound Kenny Kirkland used on the Shadows in the Rain solo, that was pretty cool. And a lot of the percussive sounds the DX could do were amazing.

FM is incredibly powerful! The DX series was largely unknown territory beyond the factory patches, and we wanted to bring that kind of power to Voltage Modular with a refined interface to make it more immediate and fun to explore!

Would you consider lofi settings to make it similiar to a DX or even the Yamaha chip in the Sega Megadrive ? Very cool, rough and dirty sounds could be had for cheap. It's a different FM world. See the hardware MegaFM synth or the diy demo by the "Look mum, no computer" guy.

If we did, it'd probably be a whole separate module.

We can definitely note that down! In the meantime, you might be able to get close using something like the PSP LoFi module to emulate that 12bit DAC goodness!

because this is 4OP, i'm curious if it'll achieve some DX100 sounds? What are the global settings for things like overall cutoff filter, pitch bend amount and mod wheel --> Vibrato?
@CherryAudiovst4 жыл бұрын
You can definitely get very close! As for the global settings, this would be determined by your patch and how you map, route, and configure those parameters. For the basics, you can add a Mod Wheel Assistant and Bend Limiter module to your rack to control their function and routing! For a filter, you can add a filter module and then control that with another parameter, a macro knob, or with MIDI CC by learning the cutoff knob.
