@user-ym8lv3mq7o Yeah but I know this area and there are places that have agreements with grocery stores. Basically, the grocery stores let them take their old stuff. They can definitely donate if they really wanted to.

I know here in Australia, about 20 plus years ago people use to dumpster dive, make their garage up like a grocery store. Then people use to come from the community and help themselves. Some of them made it on the news.

I dumpster dive, but can only donate food that is not past the best by date, so the foods that are past the best by date, I give away at my garage sales.

A pastor and his wife in the town I live in dumpster dive for food and they use it for their meal site and food bank what a wonderful way to save food that would be otherwise wasted thank you to all the people who saved the wasted food and help those in need but even with their efforts a lot of food still gets wasted the perfectly good food needs to stop going in the dumpster and instead go directly to those who need it

Seeing this amount of stuff in a huge dumpster makes me feel physically sick because there's so many people in need and so many people going hungry. Imagine how many people the food in that dumster could feed. Just mind blowing how these companies can allow this. They could so easily donate so much to soup kitchens to communities who have nothing who are struggling to make ends meet. Thabkyou so much for everything you do guys. Please donate to as many people as possible

I used to dumpster dive before I became disabled. I was a travel nurse and was able to go to the dumpster in front of our apartment. I found so many things! I was able to get some household items and some clothing, but most of it was donated to homeless and/or womens shelters. it was a wonderful adventure!

My very first “side of the road” dive happened when I was little. We were on our way to church, on the side of the road for trash was rusty old tonka toy for my father, dang it was worth $$. I have so many stories on different ways we got things, things we got. Loving this channel!

They’re just throwing things out. How can the store rationalize throwing away dry goods before expiration, plates, etc. How can they say cases of ziplocks went bad? This is deliberate waste. I’m happy that you found it and were able to save it.

Ive gone around and around with stores over this question and finally got an honest answer. They simply do not want to do the work to donate. Even having someone come every day and pick it up means they have to store it somewhere while they wait. Its really disgusting and the simple answer is they do not donate out of pure selfishness and laziness.

@@carolinepancotti4587 they do get a write for a donation up to 500 dollars which for a business is a joke. But when they trash it they can write it off as a loss which imo is so sick. It’s not a loss, it is a choice to throw it away!! It’s so so sad you are correct.

I’m a lot older than you, I’m 52, but they closed jcpennys here! My dad found my moms opal ring 💍 in a jc pennys dumpster, back in the day like the 70’s God’s going to bless you for doing this and helping folks With prices going up hang onto some of this! Crazy prices! Blessings

My husband and I do the same thing! It amazes me how much good food goes to waste! We also donate and share. Several local food pantrys are very low so I feel really good about being able to help. I also feel really sad because it should have gone there from the start. We are also going to make a blessing box for our community ❤️ I love finding others that are doing the same 😊👍✌️😎 Good work I love it!!!

Back in the 70’s we lived in a huge housing for the Navy and my brother and I used to go diving all the time because people were always moving

My mother was a dumpster diver in the 60’s. As a pre teen I was incredibly embarrassed by it because everyone knew that anyone doing that was the type of poor person you wanted to avoid. Not as much was thrown out then, especially food. But there was a fair amount of things that needed simple repairs. Stores weren’t as quick to throw out perfectly good things back then.

A few years ago I dumpster dived at a college campus. It was especially good when the kids were graduating. After the world got weird from several school shooting incidents ( not at that college) we weren't allowed on campus anymore, but it was nice for awhile.

My sister and I are Dumpster Divers, we save food, clothing, snacks and more. We donate to The United Methodist Home for Children, our local food bank, a local Christian school that helps families with gifts at the holidays and single mothers and their children, We share with Friends, Family and Neighbors, and also our church who has a clothing outreach. This year we're having Santa bring gifts for 17 Family members. Our Santa is a Dumpster Diver... what a blessing it is to help others.

I used to get all kinds of food and things I could sell to earn a living. Of course back then they had no trash compactors and people didn't care if you did it or not.
