It’s my first time listening to Volto and the moment the drum kick in, Ahhh shit here we go again.

love how danny can get his 'free-on' with Volto! can definitely see his roots. hope to see them play live eventually...if they ever get out of shithole LA;)
@DesperationmixtapeOrg10 жыл бұрын
yes but remains unable to play fusion at high levels. he remains a rock drummer
@DesperationmixtapeOrg9 жыл бұрын
***** i mean his flavour is more rigid and rock. oriented to polyr, odd signatures and less to shuffle, dynamics, colours, other techniques (for example rudiments and linear drumming)
@DesperationmixtapeOrg9 жыл бұрын
***** i mean, first fusion ever for me was tony williams lifetime which funnily enough was somewhat closer to hendrix power trio (mclaughlin playing electric gtr) and tony was a powerful jazz drummer which in time developed this heaviness (for example rolls between bassdrum and floor toms) which really was from another planet! danny is more specialized i think. nothing bad, only i see other drummers fitting in more gracefully than him in these kind of tunes. best band for me remains weather report. peter erskine was a genius and i liked a lot the combo badrena-acuna.
@Egoblivion2 жыл бұрын
@@DesperationmixtapeOrg This is Danny’s fusion and i love it. I see what you mean that he’s specialized but he is bending his style slightly and hearing what he would do in a fusion context because i like his imagination and he also has some pretty serious world-rhythm vocabulary like indian and african. Volto has some really unique parts that other fusion bands wouldn’t come up with.

From second 3 it's obvious that the GOAT Danny Carey is drumming on this track. Kills it as always.
