It’s extra sad when you remember Keith’s life has basically consisted of people leaving him. First his mother when he was just a baby, then his father when he died in that fire, then Shiro when he left for the kurberos mission, Keith was then kicked out (basically leaving) and left to fend for himself, then Shiro returned only for him to die during their fight with Zarkon, then fake Shiro returned (get to him later), then he left to the blade of Mamora so he could catch Lotor and stop him from hurting his loved ones, then a few blade members he became friends with died on various missions, then he found his mother and got separated from the group for two years (in his time) from that weird planet where he found Romelle and Kosmo, then he returned to find that clone Shiro is trying to basically kill everyone and him so he kinda killed fake Shiro so real Shiro’s mind could go back into the dead body but also scaring Keith with the chance of it not working and his big bro/space dad leaving, then finding that most of the blade is dead with even a bit of time thinking that Kolivon (the closest blade he seems to be with) thought to be dead, he is not luckily but that means Krolia (Keith’s mom) is leaving for the second time. These are the examples I can think of on the top of my head so I think the words I’m not leaving you really impacted Keith. This kid has had to experience time and again people he cared for leave him after promising to stay together and all. The fact that his team and specifically Lance in this comic would not let him go and showing it with action must be a really powerful idea that allows him the strength to keep fighting the part of him that wants to hurt another person he loves. I think this comic is very sweet and brought me close to tears. Also love the music 😊
