My daughter was born in 1981, so the 80's were a very special time for us. Sadly, she passed away in 2017. I come here to be reminded of what a great time the 80's were. Thanks for sharing these.

So sorry. She would have been my age. I have had many friends my age group die from opiates. Not knowing how your daughter died, I pray she wasn’t another.

@@iloveusomuchkaroline.forev7440 Thank you for your thoughts. She died from a brain bleed that was brought on by seizures a few years before she died. We almost lost her then, but we were able to have a couple of more years with her. And you're right, so many people of all ages are dying from opiates. I really wish there was an answer.

Christmas was a time of wonder and excitement ☺😁😄😊😆🤗☺ As a kid once the Sears Wish Book and the JC Penny's🎄Christmas🎄Catalogs came out time stood still. We'd page through those catalogs every day. Thanksgiving would come, food! Turkeys, mashed🥔potatoes🥔& gravy,🌽corn🌽, and all the trimmings! Mmmm mmm good! Then St.Nicks day. A small little prelude to the Christmas🎄holidays. Putting up the Christmas decorations, the🎄Christmas🎄Tree🎄the lights, the garland/tinsel, the ornaments! It was always a great night! Then you'd light it up and half the lights were not on.....lol. But once they were, the house lit up like no other time during the year. It was truly beautiful to see. Then school would head towards the Christmas🎄holiday "break" or as I called it, VACATION! Christmas was so different. I remember Church with Grandma and Grandpa. Having another incredible dinner. All of us together. We celebrated life and love. Now it seems like it's all lost. The pandemic has been a huge part of it, BUT we can't blame it for everything. Our world had spiraled more and more out of control since the 1999-2000 "Computer Apocalypse" we were going to have. Y2K. Remember that boneheaded issue? Then really quick in 2001 we saw what true insanity was really like. 09/11 was our first real look at what terrorists were truly capable of doing. Since all this schools have been attacked, churches, and other places of worship. Nightclubs and stores as well. Death and destruction has become the norm. I really miss the 70's way of life. The 2000's have been pure 💩!

I grew up in the late 70’s and 80’s and I remember all of these. We lived in a much better time then. I mean we don’t have Sears , Circuit city, Instant cameras or even blockbusters anymore. Thankfully we still have PUBLIX . I remember the best of times back then as we were just coming into advance technology around the mid to late 70’s. I remember we were the very few to get the first Amana range microwave, VSH player. And many commercials had the words America or made in the USA in it as well as well produced commercials like that discover card ad in this lot. And boy do I remember those Hess trucks and still have a few that I place under the tree to bring the kid back in me. And the mall! everything we did was at the mall from movies to food. And speaking of movies, we had the best back then and even today they still make sequels to them. We didn’t have home theaters or flat televisions back then , and another thing, you don’t see anymore on TV are all those old black-and-white Christmas special movies. Before everything instant including movies we had to watch what came on TV and when it came on we couldn’t record it before we had recording devices and they always had great shows on like blockbuster movies on the network evening night movies for example, NBC night at the movies or ABC night at the movies. The Waltons was also really big in the 70s and even though it looks corny now to watch it really brings us back to the basics as Americans something we have lost. While I am using that technology right now on my iPad to write this, I think all this technology used in so many wrong ways has caused so many to get lost and out of touch. What was supposed to make our life easier has actually made it worse. Just look at the news and you’ll see what I mean. Yes sir! I think we lost our way as a Society. It’s so different now possibly due to all the technology. If you are reading this and starting a family, try to get back to basics, limit the use of the cell phones, make people sit down and have dinners together with the family and do things with your family. Invite friends and neighbors over, let the kids play outside and not on a computer or a phone.. Thank you to the person that put this collection together for us to enjoy, I really appreciate it and it’s always wonderful to go down memory lane to make us feel better knowing that we lived these better times .. Thank You!
