Try it with the bike running. The ECM will cut down the power output on the amp if it's not running or if the voltage is below 13.8

I tested it running, in accessory and ignition, also loaded and with speakers, highest reading was 12 watts and 9-10 watts consistently

Let’s say that was the case, let’s say it Doubles the output.. 18 watts at most. Now, imagine it being half of that in reality. I can’t believe Rockford selling their soul, under 10 watts per channel worth, for money. This right here is why I avoid all of their products, bc of this.

@@dimaggiodt the bikes give a low voltage/battery warning across the screen when approaching the limit. I didn’t see any warning. Just seems HD and RF pulled one, with using the old speakers as a sign. Hands down the GTS radio is louder when side by side.

It’s sad to see Fosgate not being a premium product like they use be. When Jim was around, but great for Hertz to pick up and surpass. Many years of being a Fosgate and Hertz dealer, Fosgate They’re just not a premium product anymore. They build good stuff but that’s about it. Been at both factories, Fosgate in Arizona, and Hertz, Addison,in Italy, you could see the Italians are definitely beating on Rockford. Thanks Jay for the video people need to see this! Cheers

Isn’t that false advertisement by Rockford Fosgate, I think they pulled one over on Harley. My 2008 Ultra that had a stock Harman Kardin put out 20 watts per channel for a total of 80 watts would crank out the tunes going 70 mph down the highway. That’s a disgrace that they would send that out the door. Maybe that’s why my 19 RGS is crap over 35mph, no boom in that GTS_______BOX. Great channel.

I wonder if there are grounds for a class action lawsuit. That 200 Watt amp spec listed for the Street and Road Glides on the HD site might have been one of the reasons people brought the bikes. And as mentioned.. I’d like to see the test with the bike running. The new ECMs have a load shedding strategy that removes or cuts down power to electrical accessories depending on the battery voltage and alternator output. When load shedding is in progress, the battery icon at the bottom left corner of the display will be yellow, with a little lightning bolt symbol on the corner.

Harley needs to do a recall and replace the amps in those bikes. Someone needs to start a online petition to get a class action suit started.

@@henrykrauss3730 200 watt peak = 50 watt x 4 peak output, or 25 watt rms x 4, we tested and got 9 watt rms x 4 but some companies triple the rms number to get peak power and with some power turning into heat this may be the case of an exaggerated peak number for marketing. I think it performs as they intended which is terrible

I'd say the stock rockford amp is defective and doesn't meet the specs. HD should be held to this.

I would agree, I thought something was wrong with the dyno but then tested other Amps and verified it was working correctly, then I tried it with the bike running, speakers playing or without speakers with the same very low results

First time coming across your channel, but a couple of things… wattage per decibel is logarithmic. The most important factor in loudness is the sensitivity of the speaker. A 90 db speaker will be 5x more efficient than a 85db speaker.

A 200 watt amp should still produce more than 9 watts rms per channel, and yes efficiency is very important, our hertz sx165neo speakers are 96.5db efficient and much more efficient than the stock Harley speakers

The cvo sounds much better with simple speaker replacement, but your amp had 78-79 watts per channel when we tested it, this bike has 9, it is terrible

Ok I had hertz in my 2020 street glide special with my 400 watt hertz amp. Now I loved how loud they were however even the Rockford speakers that come in my 24 cvo st has more mid bass. Not as much volume but the highs in the hertz in certain songs can cut straight through you. Are those the only speakers you will provide? Or will you offer another drop in weather proof speaker that has volume and highs that don’t kill the ears and more mid bass.

Our newer kits with the larger amplifiers have much more mid bass than using the smaller amp, the radio has the bass boosted way up to make the Rockford sound like they have more bass but they have no clarity, I still think and many others agree that the hertz sound much better than the Rockford speakers, louder, clearer and still have good mid bass for a 6.5”

Great bike horrible radio. My new 11in windshield is on the way hopefully that helps. Kenmore has a plug and play amp and speaker system for the bike now. No modifications needed to install so it want mess up warranty. Its on youtube and sounds great. For 688$

Hey Jay, I have a question. I know this is not the right video to ask this. I have a 2023 road glide Limited with the boom GTS factory radio. There is a hidden menu for servicing when you boot up and you wait for the Harley logo to go away and you press and hold. The power button goes into the hidden menu and there is a whole bunch of EQ options do you need a flash the radio to install a amp or can you just select a different option and you do not need to flash the radio I am just curious I don’t know if you know about this hidden menu and the options?

That menu only shows the options. It will not let you actually change them. You can view your current eq.bin info to verify a flash in that menu but you cannot change to a different one.
