Volunteering and Science Diplomacy: 15 panels were presented, covering topics such as the use of AI for tuberculosis detection, the impact of medical volunteering on global health, and the importance of science diplomacy.
The panel on “International Projects by Young Scientists” brought together Prof. Moses Basitere from the South African Young Academy of Science, who discussed “Science Diplomacy”; Dr. Mayra Silva from the Operational Center for the Information Society (NOSi - Cape Verde), with a talk titled “NOSi’s Journey in Africa’s Digital Transformation”; Dr. Antonia Morita Iswari Saktiawati from Indonesia, who spoke on “AI for Tuberculosis Detection (AI Nose) on the Islands”; Dr. Ashwin Parchani from India, with the theme “The Impact of Medical Volunteering on Global Health: A Personal Journey”; and Dr. Laiana Azevedo Quagliato (PJLM), who analyzed “Evaluating the Impact of Blue and Green Spaces on the Mental Health of Children and Adolescents.”
The seminar “Young Scientists and the Future of Science in the G20,” organized by the Instituto Coalizão Saúde (Health Coalition Institute) and the ANM, was held in a hybrid format as part of the G20 program, with the aim of giving a voice to the new generation of scientists and fostering discussions and strategies to solve relevant societal problems.
The meeting brought together young physicians and scientists and renowned professors, both Brazilian and international - among them Nobel Prize winner in Medicine and Physiology (1993) Richard Roberts and Professor Arminio Fraga, former President of the Central Bank of Brazil.
The National Academy of Medicine (ANM), located in Rio de Janeiro, hosted the world of science from Brazil and abroad on 3 July 2024 for a meeting about science and the future.
