Women in Science: A panel dedicated exclusively to women in science included the participation of Helena Nader, President of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences, speaking on “The Importance of Academies and International Cooperation”; academic Eloisa Bonfá discussing “Challenges in Medical Education in the 21st Century”; Prof. Gulnar Azevedo e Silva (Rector of UERJ), on “Public Universities as a Means of Social Inclusion”; and academic Margareth Dalcolmo addressing “The Importance of Communication with Society: The COVID-19 Experience.” Comments were provided by academics Patricia Rocco and Fernanda Tovar Moll.
The seminar “Young Scientists and the Future of Science in the G20,” organized by the Instituto Coalizão Saúde (Health Coalition Institute) and the ANM, was held in a hybrid format as part of the G20 program, with the aim of giving a voice to the new generation of scientists and fostering discussions and strategies to solve relevant societal problems.
The meeting brought together young physicians and scientists and renowned professors, both Brazilian and international - among them Nobel Prize winner in Medicine and Physiology (1993) Richard Roberts and Professor Arminio Fraga, former President of the Central Bank of Brazil.
The National Academy of Medicine (ANM), located in Rio de Janeiro, hosted the world of science from Brazil and abroad on 3 July 2024 for a meeting about science and the future.
