Volvo 5.0 5.7 GI Summerization

Hey Everyone, Summarizing a 5.0 GI volvo for summer. This is a 305 GM motor. The GI and GXI should be very similar for summarizing. Hope this helps. No Fancy editing but just enough to get a straight forward video to you to get you on the water quick. Hope this helps! Enjoy!

Look for some help as just replaced the impellar and cannot get water to cook the exhaust. 5.0 gl volvo penta 2006

What do you mean by can’t get it to cook the exhaust? Make sure there is not 2 o ring’s on the sealing surface.

I believe that is a knock sensor...not oil press sensor

Surprised that a boat manufacturer surrounds the engine with panels that are so close and high. I would think safety hazard with buildup of fumes even with blower and heating problems with engine.

There is sufficient venting. All fumes exit and everything is sealed. The blower is simply for if there was ever a fuel leak that this would exit the air charge out before you start the boat. The panels are a pain but they do make it very quiet and enjoyable to ride in.

Do you have to remove the hoses the winterize? Can't you just run antifreeze through the motor then disconnect the plugs? Also the oil sender why do you disconnect the plug on that oil does not freeze?

You got me. Coolant temp sensor is what i meant to say..... you could run through like that. I prefer to pull them and run through manually because you can flush the rust out. There is lots of rust that builds up.

Okay this was pretty helpful I will do it the way you did it but I plan on running antifreeze through it first then draining it so it can coat the inside of the engine

If you dump it through once the hoses are off it coats sverything.
