Volvo C40 roadtrip and what we found was UNREAL!

My 2023 Volvo C40 has been causing me trouble lately. When I'm driving at 65 mph, the steering wheel vibrates very badly, making it quite annoying to drive, not sure if the steering wheel vibration cost the accident or not. Unfortunately, the dealership informed me that they cannot do anything about it. If you're considering purchasing a Volvo C40, I advise you to be careful and aware of this issue. Additionally, I've been experiencing frequent failures in the data signal almost every week. To restore the signal, I have to manually turn the SIM data off and on again, which is quite inconvenient.

My C40 has this same vibration issue. It is a constant, sad distraction from an otherwise joyous driving experience. I wish I had waited a year to buy mine to get one that Volvo had fixed. I'm considering filing a lemon law claim against Volvo.

Great video, thanks. Had my C40 Ultimate since late December and mostly loving it, a few real annoyances, “pro pilot” seems more like a driver who’s just passed their test it’s so skittish and on a £60k+ car there’s unused buttons on the steering wheel but you have to dive into the menus to turn off one pedal driving (which is great btw). Other annoyance has been when I’ve gone out of my way to use Ionity charger to get the discount only to find fairly permanent looking labels in the machine saying “card reader not working, use app” which charges full price. Still a fab car and love driving it.

Left hand side of steering wheel, the up/down buttons change the adaptive cruise control distance but the left/right buttons appear to do nothing.

Great video Thom! Let’s hope Volvo will improve their electric efficiency. Cannot wait for more purely electric models from Volvo and Lynk&Co. Still waiting with the swap from combustion to electric 😎

Hi Thom, thanks for sharing this video! Drive a single version XC 40 Recharge. Did not know about the profit Volvo drivers get at Ionity charging stations! This is interesting, prices for charging seem only to rise! Can you tell a bit more about this? Do you need to use your Plugsurfing card to get the discount? How does the charging station know you drive a Volvo?

Hi Ronald, (als het goed is) heeft de Volvo dealer je een PlugSurfing kaart gegeven toen je de auto in ontvangst nam. Hier zit een unieke code op de kaart bij, deze kan je invoeren/activeren in de Volvo Cars App waarmee je de korting activeert. Vervolgens kun je bij alle Ionity stations met de korting laden door de PlugSurfing kaart te gebruiken. De kaart geeft hiermee dus de korting, de paal herkent (helaas/nog) niet je auto. 😉

@@thom-lov Hi Thom, bedankt voor je snelle antwoord. Inderdaad heb ik bij de auto een Plugsurfing-kaart gekregen. Men heeft echter verzuimd te vertellen over de mogelijke korting. Ga zeker proberen gebruik te maken van deze korting. Tevens zal ik daarna Care by Volvo en de garage die de auto heeft afgeleverd feedback geven over deze mogelijkheid.

I saw an IG post about that old Volvo dealership! I didn't realize it was in Europe. An American guy was saying that the building is being used to house one man's classic volvo collection and the man refuses to sell any of the vehicles within. Who knows what the truth is!

I Drive the C40 Recharge Twin now for 2 weeks and am thrilled. Fantastic driving characteristics and a super handling. The power is great and the design anyway. I'm curious whether there will also be a c30.

ja onze Belgische wegen. mijn grootvader zij altijd, vroeger lagen onze wegen er perfect bij. maar die Hollanders reedden veel te snel op hun jaarlijkse trektocht naar het zuiden en vielen in slaap op de terugweg. toen dat het Vlaams, Waals en Brussels gewest een overeenkomst hadden bereikt over hoe dit op te lossen, hadden de wegen het probleem zelf opgelost. deze laten wij nu maar liggen aangezien dit een beter oplossing was dan de overeenkomst tussen de gewesten. :)

Volvo's don't have great efficiency with their electric motors....

This dual motor setup surely consumes a bit at higher speeds. But can also be pretty efficient if you drive it mindful. 😊
