I think out of the whole video catalog from over the years, I think this is the first underground mining video on the channel. Surface mining equipment is great, but underground machines are just something different.

Absolutely, underground is awesome. There will be more! Thanks

Never did anything underground. I told everybody I'd never been there and I'd go in there but might not even STAY in there. I never went and was beating boulders at the quarry for the jaw or basketball size and 3 foot stuff outside. Riprap. Thanks and God Bless yall!

Wow Justin! Incredible stuff..! Dad had 30yr in eastern Ky coal underground and told stories of “low coal charlies “ being all that could work in the mines he started in…I think 36”-40” seam maybe..? This is on a whole different level

Oh yeah I love underground coal but hard rock is totally different. The fact that they load 70-100 ton trucks underground is amazing. Thanks!

I could never do that job. First, because it’s underground, and second, it seems like scraping a big fingernail on the proverbial chalkboard. But interesting none the less. And just for the record, I’m really enjoying not knowing what day of the week it is! 👍👍🇺🇸

I could definitely handle a job like this, good set of earplugs and I’ll peel all the loose rock I can find.

I would really like to see a map of our local limestone mine that has been active for nearly 100 years. I can't feature how big it must be. Supposedly there are chambers there that are at least as high as this one. Can't find one shred of information about the mine though. Just rumors.

Underground hard rock is pretty impressive, considering some places run 775s underground

When you think underground mining you don’t generally thing of a need for a long reach demolition excavator. That’s different. Lol

What exactly is going on here?
@TJV839 ай бұрын
I think it’s a underground rock quarry and the excavator is cleaning the walls

Loose rocks on the walls are dangerous. I did this job in a salt mine underground with a hidraulic attachment and It is very tought, hard on the equipment, hard on your neck and difficult to see.The improvement nowadays with led lights seems huge
@tomgee27199 ай бұрын
Why use that attachment? It covers so little ground, why not a clean up bucket, you could do 10 times the work.
@brianw89639 ай бұрын
That extra long reach boom would not handle the weight of a bucket.

Picking loose rock from the wall / ceiling. Peel loose chunks off to minimize the chance of a worker getting smashed in the head or equipment damaged
@Porty11198 ай бұрын
Leverage is key when scaling. You need to apply maximum leverage to the crack you're working on.

sorry but that isn't work for a ripper . that machine will have cracks in the slew ring in no time . Should have saved time and money by using a drum cutter attachment .
@brianw89639 ай бұрын
I believe the idea is to just knock down any loose material. Ripping would defeat the purpose.

And just how does the attachment affect the slew ring lol?
@Lucygil99 ай бұрын
@@PAmining wow , for someone that is supposed to be so knowledgeable on heavy equipment it pains me that you can't even see the obvious in the video . Let me point it out for you . Notice every time the ripper "slips" from the rock face the machine is jolting on its base and rocking back and forth , this kind of stress will cause massive problems with the slew ring and bearing over a short period of time . Been there , done that , and all that , so i know what i am talking about . Absolutely the wrong attachment for the job , but hey , any monkey can operate the joysticks so its all good .
@Craneman4100w9 ай бұрын
@@Lucygil9 I've seen machines like this one operate for years with no damage to the turn table. You do realize that these machines are designed to do this work, right? So, are you basing what you state as personal experience or do you just "feel" that the slewing ring will be a problem?
