Great video! In the 70's amd 80's the Poclain excavators were very popular here in the Netherlands, one of the most popular model was the LC80, working on many earthmoving sites. Together with Atlas, Liebherr and O&K they were one of the most common machines to be found, and just like Poclain, a Deutz diesel engine was installed. Very reliable, easy in maintenance. The Deutz air-cooled engines had a typical whine due to the fan from the forced air-cooling system.

Where in PA is this? I'm hoping some mining jobs come back here in the Pittsburgh south area. There's both a lot of high quality coal left and a lot of old coal refuse, ash and old strip reclamation that need done.

What a beast...! It can literally move mountains, I bet the operator feels like he's on top of the world.

That legacy 992 isnt losing grip while going into that pile. I operated a 966 a very long time ago and it was quarry work. But the new machines with traction control frustate me as i go into the pile and work it to get a full bucket for break out. Ergonomics of the modern machine is great, quieter and nicer creature comforts. Just hate all the software used to operate the machine for that so called efficiency.

For a 78 model, it looks like it has been maintained. Looks like it is not in service anymore? Enjoy the education of mining iron. 👍👍👍👍👍

It's the emergency glass breaker rattling against the window lol. You don't notice it when you're in the cab but the camera picked it up heavily because it was next to me. If I knew it would have overpowered the audio like that I would have tapped it back

Now, this operator is GOOD!! He is a true professional, and it's easy to see he knows his machine extremely well. That boom and stick is just a extension of himself. Great video. We need more with this operator!! Thanks so much for posting!

That operator is actually operating properly. Don’t see that very often. Notice how he preserves the bottom of the bucket. That’s how you’re supposed to dig. Keep the wear on the inside of the bucket as much as possible. Great job operator. Smooth. Oh… fix the rattling sound before it drives you mad. 😆

Thats the emergency window/glass breaker rattling against the glass. I'm sure that mixed with all the other rattling sounds doesn't mean much 😂 thanks!

Good sound on the video, though. Playing this on a laptop with decent speakers, as far as laptops go. The annoying sound is placed in space above and behind the screen and quite distinct from the sound of the machine lower down. Audiophile stuff!

Really efficient pass match with those 777’s. Liebherr definitely puts out a very high quality line of excavators. We know they are good, just by seeing how many large size units are working in Australia. And Australian mining companies seem to have a very obvious preference to the Liebherr track hoes & shovels. They also seem to prefer the larger sized Caterpillar dozers, especially the D11 model. Thanks for posting this interesting video PAmining.By the way, very good operator on the Liebherr.Very deliberate and methodical, while never being in a too fast mode.
