Thanks so much , it works and now I can stream from you tube again . I did know about this reboot but didn’t realise it set up the radio. I used it to start the water pump for when I get water build up in the fuel filters

For newer FM models turn the ignition off and leave the keys in, click the hazard light once and on the second click hold the hazard button in for 10 seconds. All truck electronics in the cab should turn off and hopefully any bluetooth issues resolved.

Dear Sir, thank you for this 'hack'! There is absolutely no mention of it in vehicle manual and I needed to reset the system because Bluetooth wouldn't connect any longer. It seems, by the sound of it, that it resets the whole system aka ecu/cpu. Really good to know! Thank you once again! Keep the shiny side up! 😉

Worked for me too.. top man 👌🏼 never seen this hazard light method mentioned anywhere else its usually just the main battery kill switch people recommend!

@@ct9451 be prepared to do it again and again because it does need doing occasionally, also if other drivers have access to the truck sometimes you have to delete one or more devices from the connected menu, as it sometimes gets 'full' and will not 'pair' any more. And every now and then the 'old kill switch ' option is the one that sorts it.🙄🙂

This is the proper way to shut down the ecu’s prior to turning off the main switch at the battery’s. This can reset minor faults and clear locked ecus for example radios etc. If this is not done prior to disconnecting the battery’s or turning off the main switch you will cause more problems. The newer version 4’s are more like your home pc’s turning the main switch off is the same as pulling a plug out the wall. Put the ecus into sleep mode with the hazard switch first. Like your home pc if it locks up, the hazard reset reboots the ecus.

Thank you SO MUCH! My FH5 (2021) wouldn't let me change the volume anymore with the volume knob or the steering wheel buttons. Resetting it like this fixed it! I have no idea why this isn't in the manual.

You must leave it for 10 mins minimum before putting the keys back in for a full hard reset and do not operate anything electrical(ie central locking for the 10 mins).

Just as a fyi, don’t turn off the main switch. On the version 2 and 3 Volvos you can in a pinch. the version 4 and (4.5) system doesn’t work the same way, completely different setup. you run the risk of killing stuff.

Have you had experience with the battery volt and amps gauge on an fmx? Got no reading on the dash and ive changed the battery sensor still nothing? Truck is charging fine at just over 28v at batteries

Doing this will clear your fault codes and reset computer so you can drive back on road again.

It won’t clear the codes, just reset the ecu’s if the code is linked to a ecu lockup then it will go from active to inactive, unless it’s part of a critical safety or emission system then it may need to be reset by a dealer via tech tool. This should only be used as a temporary solution.

The engine would not start just turning over as there was no diesel. Volvo scratched there heads. It was doing it for weeks until I saw your reboot. After doing it the truck has not failed me in weeks.

Oh dear…have you tried the battery/cut off/isolator switch? It’s by the nearside door/wheel arch area (on the outside) it’s a red cover, just turn the switch off for about 10 seconds then turn it back on, make sure the keys are not in the ignition when you do it. This sometimes overides a quick reboot. You never know?
