Truck driving is a dying industry no youngsters are drawn to it (or not enough ) and you can understand why when you compare these 2 trucks.Here in the UK we could not even run the XXL longline fh.When your handed the keys to a Merc axor and expected to week away in it no wonder no one wants to do the job..The E.U and UK need to rethink vehicle lengths to allow bigger cabs with way more room we don't need bull nose units like t cab Scania or vnl but scanias s cab longline or cut nose off the vnl and put it on fh chassis and encourage new drivers into the industry with striking looking trucks with REAL living space.great video show us how far behind we are in Europe.☺️👍

Trucks ain't gonna change anything. Government wont change cause infastracture like bridges and roads may not be upto the extra length. Same here in NZ we only limited to 23M . Longer cab means less pallet decks means less money for companies

I'm an American trucker & always wish you UK drivers could have bigger bunks, hell double the size you currently have would make a world of difference. I'm a Peterbilt & Kenworth man here but I am a mega Scania fan as well. I do love UK/EU trucks & trailers, pretty nice gear you all have. Just need bit more bunk room. UK/EU pretty old but Warehouses looking like they are getting updated & bigger, hopefully soon y'all will be allowed bigger bunks.

I would still like to have the European xxl Volvo here in the states for some of the tight docks we back into with the 53’ footers and the little bunk for those just in case I can’t get home occasionally or the not such fun extra long pickup or delivery delays

That truck would be perfect for the US market. Volvo 860 is the biggest one 760 is the mid size. You need a big cab here in the US lots of company like to keep the driver on the road minimum 3-4 week.

@@nztrucker1542 Even Americans themselves know the us trucks are not great. But when you are on the road for months on end, what would matter most to you, a European truck that drives well, or a giant american truck with a bunk the size of an apartment? I'd pick the US truck every time.

It would be nice to see Cabovers as an actual option here in the US. European cabs are only small due to regulations. Here in the US and Canada you could technically have a Cabover with the same size sleeper as a conventional truck, but also maintain a shorter and more manuverable wheelbase. There's still a lot of truck stops and customers here in the US that don't accommodate 53" trailers with long conventional tractors well. Especially out in the eastern colonial States, there's a lot of tight spaces and tight roads out east. The Pacific Northwest also has quite a few tight windy mountain and coastal roads as well. It would be nice to have more options, Volvo and Diamler could probably pull it off if they felt like it.. Volkswagen also recently acquired Navistar/International, and they also own MAN and Scania. Paccar owns Daf. That's a lot of potential options, we could have.. CMV safety standards in Europe are stricter than the US, but US Diesel emissions are stricter here.. Also saw an article on Hyundai looking to enter the US market with a hydrogen COE truck..

@@angrysocialjusticewarrior Depends on the road. Mostly highways (even with European dimensions), VNL will do. Mostly narrow curves, it has to be FH16.

Well the American trucks do have a lot of space, but the truck is huge to and with the steering wheels infront of you, it tends to make them less maneuverable.

The FH XXL would actually be good for the US. From the looks of it, the sleeper conforms to DOT regulations (apart from the lack of vents). It would be great for guys doing regional work in the Northeast, where spaces are tight.

That VNL Volvo would be good in finland. Our combinants can legally be 34,5 meter long and it means longnose trucks(VNL volvo,T-series scania)are one option if drive a long distance and live weeks in a truck. Interesting to see how things going.

Its a differend there midle europe then here in finland. Our semi-trucks can legal to be 52tons.and 34.5 meter long. But onesty i agree that what you say.Long-nose needs way too much space to turn and they are horrible handle to small yards. I would love to got scania longline or volvo longtrotter.Enought space to live there weekes and still nice and good to handle a tight places.

The EMS (European Modular System) allows a combination of vehicles up to 25,25m. So i dont get it why we cant have longer cabs

It works in Continental Europe as long as you’re hauling Bulk goods or Containers from ports to terminals due to overall length restrictions, I’ve seen a few trucks in Europe with that set up , it also works in Nordic Scandinavian countries where overall length restrictions aren’t very strict

So in Europe the regulations don't allow for longer sleeper? That's bullshit. They should revisit that law, bigger cab = more comfort = better quality work/life = safer!!!!

They do not limit the sleeper but the overall length with truck and trailer, it's limited to 16,5m, so there's not much you can add without falling outside that length limitation, you could technically have a small trailer and a bigger cab but that's not very cost effective. Scania used to make the Longline (which had a BIG sleeper, they could have a bed lined up along the length of the truck without a problem) and had a prototype for the follow on model after the 4-series but Brussels (EU) didn't want to change the limits, in other words change the length limitation to allow longer combinations while keeping the same length of the trailer. Understandable for some regions but definitely not all, but EU is against longer combinations which countries such as Sweden and Finland have been fighting for a long time. The limit right now is 25,25m for modular combinations. Sweden and Finland are looking for combinations >34m in length without exemption, now they are allowed through exemption on per request. I don't know why EU is so stuck in their hatred against longer combination is but it's rooted deep. They run campaigns against it on TV and everything which is ridiculous. A Swedish project concluded that if you increase the length to take one more load of wood (timber stack) on a truck combination (From 60 metric tons to 90 metric tons and from 24m to a bit over 30m in length) you save around 20% in fuel and reduce the wear on the roads compared to conventional limits. EU refuse to change regulation on this but they can regulate that led lights on the back of the car should be turned off to save fuel on newer cars, with little gain and a loss in safety as they did not mandate Automatic light systems in cars until recently so people run around without lights on at night, because people do not understand how their cars work (which will never change). EU is stupid when it comes to regulation for trucks.

These comparisons don't hold up... A cab of a VNL is superior to any cab of a European truck. A us cab has lots of space for living there. 😂 European trucks are ridiculous as the european Driving Regulation. Staying 48 hours during the weekend in a rest area in such a small cabin are not so relaxing. European law prohibits staying in the cab during the weekend, but all drivers are then forced to stay in the rest areas for 48 hours. When European transport Companies Should Pay for Decent Housing for drivers? They don't want to adapt the cabin for more space, they don't want to offer the accommodation, but they want that the drivers stay out for weeks at a time in very small cabins. These gentlemen should explain what quality rest would be like for them?
