Finland, December 2024, +2 C.
City workers making the cross country skiing track out of nowhere. Pay attention, there is no snow on the ground else where, only in the skiing track and in that big mountain what Volvos are working, mountain full of snow. That is last year's snow! After ski season at Spring, the real snow and gunned snow from the small lake below, is storaged for the next 3/4 year for the next ski season at the early next winter to the big pile covered with maybe plastic sheets and the whole snow mountain is sealed totally a layer of sawdust, donno thickness of layer.
In Finland's summertime, here could be normally over +25 C temperatures in June to August, not all the time but some weeks or days at least, varies a lot yearly and around +20 C is normal for all the time. It is a Miracle that only couple of tens of percents from this snow storage will melt during the Spring, Summer and Autumn (9 Months) So there will be enough snow left for building the new ski trails for classic and free style skiing for the start of the next skiing season.
They build a 0,5m-1.0m thick and about 4m wide snow/ice mattress for at least 2km long skitrack from the last year snow of that mountain. It is not needed to use new snow from the sky for this length of track but it is even better if it snows also, ski mattress will be more durable. They have done this for already several years now in my home town Pori Björneborg Arctopolis, or just Pori. The best thing here is that this ski trail is free for use for everyone, offered by City, no charge! -well taxes... :(
I don't know if this method is used in some else country too. But I think this could be High Tech from Finland also, not 100% sure though!
