Volvo P2 + P3 Mirror Retrofit Part 1 - Disassembly

How to completely disassemble a Volvo P2 or P3 mirror.
Note: does not include how to de-pin connectors, but that's easy with a small screwdriver to unclip the plastic retainers and a small unfolded paper clip to release the pins.

Hey John. I know you posted this a year ago, but I just want to say a HUGE thank you. There were a number of things wrong with my P3 driver side mirror, and your videos gave me the confidence to take on the job. Took me like 5 hours from start to finish, but everything is working in the mirror again :D

Great video John! I broke my XC70 2006 power folding mirror LH and have the possibility to get a same color non-power unit. To your knowledge, can I reuse my initial part motor and add it to the non-power unit? Thanks again for the great tips!!

Hi there! The power and non-power mirrors are not compatible, BUT which part did you break? If it's just the top/cosmetic part, and you still have the lower folding assembly and body mount, then you're good to go. The upper section can be used from any folding p2 or p3 mirror (xc90, xc60, v60, s60....)

@@sneakysmeagol Hi! Thanks for responding. Ok good news. My lower part is perfectly working (the arm attached to the car, including motor). The broken parts are the back cover and the front cover (the one surrounding the mirror itself) Also got the motor bracket (the plate attached to the mirror) broken. I ordered a P2 non-power mirror. Here’s the plan according to your video: 1) remove the top en front cover 2) remove the motor 3) replace above parts with the ones of my new mirror (second hand) and reassembled everything together 4) Hope for the best 🤣

I bought original P2 volvo v70 2006 mirrors with blis, do you think it fits plug and play in my P2 v70 2006? Just Software with Vdash?

Probably? I've never been able to source actual p2 CAR BLIS cam modules. You'll need the CCM button, and it's likely since you have an '06 you may have to run a wire from the CEM to the doors, that's what my friend had to do with his 2006. What's your production date? Also possible you may have to implement the delay circuit, please update us with what happens :) If you're outside the US there's a greater chance your car is pre-wired though, I think more cars came with that option in Europe. Have you seen my BLIS retrofit thread on Swedespeed? Not all of it may apply to you since you have actual p2 modules but I'd still take a look if you run into problems.
