Some of the B230 Penta blocks had 2,5 litre bore instead of 2,3. Popular to put in rally cars.

bought myself a 93mod 240 with a B230FX (cop engine) as we call it in norway 531 head and vx cam at 136hp the penta will be cool to see what's becoming of

first thing, running it without any water to the water pump, you likely just fried the rubber impeller. Second, the AQ151 is a high compression motor and will knock like crazy and hardly make power on anything less than 91 octane. Try putting octane booster in it.

you will want to ditch the duel carbs and get a weber conversion and more importantly replace the exhaust manifold if you want to use it on the boat. They only last about 2 years and clog and then you overheat and damage the head and motor. If you find a bronze manifold (rare but some are around) grab it. I found one and they are awesome.

Looks like a late 70's or early 80's boat but these things always look fresh :D IMO best boats come from the 80's when they tested maximum speed planing hulls and werent just making all round boats only like today. You had 40knot boats with only 35hp in the 70's but now they max out at 28-30knots with 50-90hp and weigh tons. Sure its safety but the driver makes the safety ultimately ;)

Take the 86mm crank and keep it, and take the 149mm rods to so you can run stock pistons. Than put 80mm crank and 152mm "car" rods and put it in the boat and use it 😃👍

Have had 300 volvos, a few boats have b21 type 3 motors fresf water heat exchangers. How do you tell if it is 2.5, csn you put b20 head on this motor. Its going in 57 445, it has b21 turbo 76 motor now, want to keep. Had 40 years, 30 years ago put low comp. B21, had b20. Went to alaska lefy freinds kid messed up. That motor was in 66 micro bus ve 21 window convertibe vw, built 74 motor, can you say micro bus.

Volvo Penta Aquamatic 270 outboard leg. Running mine with a Mazda RF 2 litre high speed turbo diesel better than the Volvo engine. Engine cooled with a sea water heat exchange via engine coolant. The Aquamatic is strong and should only be driven with high speed engines rated to 300HP. Cheers

***HELP**** boyfriend and I have the same engine in our boat.. it ran excellent ALLL summer 2019 (Seattle) until we headed out for our last boating venture last summer... dropped her in the water and she wouldn't start.. you turn the key and it seems as if she wants to start.. no luck.. he has worked on the boat a little. He is not a certified mechanic but knows his way around... after tinkering around the last couple weeks he was able to fire she right up a few time.. so we loaded her up.. dropped her into lake Sammamish and she wouldn't start.... while at the lake he noticed the fuel is puddling in the carburetor!!! HELPPPP!!! ANY IDEAS???

Here is todays swedish lesson. ”Båtvev” pronounced bought-weh(v) as in ”boat crank”. Almost exclusively used to describe the crankshaft of Pentas to get 2.5 out of a 2.3 redblock.

The oil was mint like looked like it was just changed , was also topped up . Not sure why . I know oil breaks down from age but i doubt its bad

Theres a 90% chance it needs an impeller and you risk burning the motor up your first run any old boat usually needs an impeller. Just watch the temp first time out.
