A good mechanic: Good Knowledge, and Careful Work. I am indebted for this important bit of knowledge. I would find out what removes that emulsion ( perhaps solvent or kerosene), give it a good flush with clean oil diluted with solvent...drain, and then give it fresh oil again.. run not more than 30 mins or an hour.. enough to get it really up to temp, drain well, and fill again. All before it goes back to work. Taking a chance on having a small oil drilling clogged with that gunk is not worth the time and materials to be sure it;'s right.

How long did you run it with water in it? I just changed the raw water pump on my d1-30 (I know nothing about this engine as I’ve just bought the boat) but the oil was obviously used and clean and clear at initial start up with the old pump and was ran off a hose. I shut it down soon after as I knew the pump needed rebuilt or replaced. I opted for a new one, ran it a couple off times over 15 minutes on the hose directly from the intake hose. Oil was checked afterwards a couple of times and nothing seemed unusual. After putting in, I ran it a couple of times and the oil now definitely has water in it. There was condensation on top of the oil fill cap and the oil is grey and a quart up from before. I do possibly suspect a bad new pump? The fresh coolant level has seemed to change and it’s definitely got water, not antifreeze in the oil.
