The side airbags didn't seem effective at 1:24. The curtains came down but you can barely see the side bag.

I wonder if they'll ever increase the speed of the pole test.. 25 is low.. I guess since in that one test, the most modern cars are clearly at cabin protection tipping point, that it would be impossible or very hard to make them handle something at 50 or so?

35 mph into a ridged wall is worse then 60 into a road barrier or another car those will absorb some impact those do not
@JJ-wq5ey3 жыл бұрын
low mph... they put 35 mph low ... so you can’t be aware ... it has to be 65 mph or 75mph ... like the other tests of other cars.

Crashing @ 35 mph ... how about a real test with at least 60 ?

You don't hit a rigid barrier in real life
@RTH-xo6gl4 жыл бұрын
Because it assumed smart people are breaking not going 60 mph on impact. Most over 45 mph are fatal in all cars / SUV’s

Bruh 35mph into a wall equals to hitting something that bounces off or crumples with 60-70mph if not more

I love it when a B pillar puts a dent in the middle of the cart brick and the doors just bend around it, then you know the car's got some serious meat on the bones and someone knew what they were doing!
@RTH-xo6gl4 жыл бұрын
Good B pillar, doors always weakest point, but how many just door accidents at speed happen.
@RealSafeCars4 жыл бұрын
RTH, you are correct, this is a less common type of accident. In case you are interested further... to see the alleged justification for adding this test, check out section II in this article: www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=one.nhtsa.gov/DOT/NHTSA/Rulemaking/Rules/Associated%2520Files/214_Side_Impact_final_Aug_30_2007.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwi30ejgzb3qAhVPgnIEHe2RB0UQFjAAegQIBhAB&usg=AOvVaw08Kn5g7BuGM9KU0CekWVaa

Volvo has received the IIHS Safety award, but the Subaru Outback and Forester have received the IIHS Safety PLUS award. Furthermore according to Consumer Reports, the 2019 and newer Outback and Forester are more reliable than Volvo
