I just had this problem on a 2013 s60 drivers side rear door and it was a super simple fix - open the driver door, look back at the wiring harness for the rear door, and make sure the blue tab on the bottom of the wiring harness is pushed all the way up. After pushing it up, doors locked and windows worked

My windows and door locks were working intermittently and for the life of me I had no worldly reason to look into the door ....until I saw this video. Thanks, fixed the intermittently working passenger side door locks and electric widows like a dream. Never found a break in a wire, but pulling everything apart, cleaning it and putting it back together worked like a char charm. Let's see how long it lasts. Volvo dealer was convinced it was a mechanical issue in the rear door lock. Hmm.

I have the same issue in my 2009 S80 T6. I found three broken wires and will more than likely have to add a bit of wire to them since they are so tight. I wish I didn't have to cut the bellows though, and I will try by pushing it back as far as I can. Great video and thanks.

Awesome video and you saved me money from the Volvo stealers. Anyone else doing this make sure you take the connector out correctly and dont just force it...dont ask me how I found this out ...doh

My 2011 S80 has a similar problem, the difference is mine blows 20A the fuse for DDM. I have this car for almost 2 yrs with no problem, but in last 4 days blew up 3 fuses. Now I realized why previous owner had about 5 spare fuses

Solution in my case: I had the same problem, the rear right door (left steering car model) was not functional after i clean the door with special dash foam. The window and locking knob was dead, the speacker was ok. I don't know if the foam or a mechanical shock made this problem. 1st i check the fuse, it was ok. Cable connection (junction) between door and pillar, ok. I disable the window knob and test it on the other door, was ok... I disconnect the battery, i shortcut THE CABLES (NOT THE BATTERY!!) to discharge all the power and i turn on the knob of the lights. Wait 5 minutes and reconnect the battery. Problem solved!!

Hopefully you can help? It takes 2 or 3 attempts for my driver door to lock after pushing the central locking button. All other doors are locking first time. 2008 volvo v70.

does it hurt to fold the mirror by hand? I found it that it does not lockin postion and becomes loose untill you use electric folding again

Just had this issue, the trunk was closed when it started. I opened my trunk to see if the key would respond to that and it did. I started the car turned it off and then tried some more. I closed the trunk to say what the hell and go back to work and tried one more time to lock and it worked and hasn't given me issues since

My 2008 Volvo V70 is a salvage car and it was hit in the left side doors. After being replaced, it always states that the doors are open, even though they are closed. Is there anything I can do with this?

I have very similar issue in 2014 v60. Passenger door lock sometimes does not open when it's cold outside. During summer everything is good. Electric mirror and windows work and lock indicator shows correct status all the time. Being outside, I noticed that when this happens, there is like a split second pause in unfolding passenger mirror, then in continues but lock does not work. Sometimes it works after few tries but generally when it's cold lock fails. Would it be lock, cables or some control module?

Okay but this cant be the fix. You said sometime It works and sometimes It doesnt which is the same case in my car BUT since your wire were chopped off it should NEVER work and not only sometimes.

with the wire being chopped or broken they are still close together in the wiring lume under the rubber, with continuous opening and closing of the door the wire will sometimes touch where it broke off and complete the wire connection. For that instant, the switch would work or maybe short and blow a fuse, and the broken wires would move on opening the door again each time the door is opened, so probably not work in that case so an intermittent fault
