Thanks for your comment! The adoption of four tracks is to make them more wheel-like. When driving on rough ground traditional tracks tiptoe and the contact area is quite small. Four tracks have a much higher contact area with the ground, aided by independent suspension to each track, suspended via a swing arm from a central pivot. Each track has a separate wheel motor, which can brake, accelerate and even turn.

Thanks for your comment! Please understand that this concept is based, in some part, on technologies that have yet to be developed. It also relies on future developments that may or may not have been tested but are certainly not yet commercially available. But we are working on it :-)

Do we really have to walk like this in the future?!?
@jdofmemi15 жыл бұрын
I like some of the concepts here, like the independant tracks, but maybe a little simpler version first. I really like the active counterweight. Give a lighter, easier to move machine a big digging advantage. Just make sure to not make it so complex it is not reliable. I think the concept shows some promise though.

These ideas might have their place is smaller specialized machines but the KISS principle still holds, especially when playing in the dirt.

this is supposed to come out when?? idk but im sure that lil feature to cover more ground would come in handy at the beach we would use it at
@wtfmanicanthaveaname15 жыл бұрын
the counterwieght feature is pretty nice..but volvo should really focus on making a diesel turbo charger that lasts more than 60k miles before they worry about this!

geniales konzept ! wird es auch gebaut ? prototype ? was würde solch ein bagger kosten?
@amintha9114 жыл бұрын
the 4 tracks is a great idea, but it would only really last in light duty work, working in rock like in highway construction it wouldnt last. and all the other small things would just be more unnecessary and would never get fixed by a mechanic, so theyre rather pointless. oh yeah, what construction worker wears tights??

Incredible ideas, nice machine, the tracking, the remote features,85 there is to much glass for a heavy machine, I agree with pup085, but any other feature I think are great nice job. When can I see this done?

Well its an interesting concept,especially the remote detachable cab. My biggest concern was once the the operative got shut in that strong (plexiglas?) or re-enforced glass module. Once that cover has closed, unless he got powerful fans hes gonna bake! In the event of an accident, hes not going anywhere, it could be his tomb, if he couldn't get out! The sequences were a little slow, as a standard driver could have dug a trench or filled on in, by the time this guy was ready! He didn't even get the chance to dig one, after he only picked up one stone and missed scooping up the second one, dropped the stone, picked up hazardous waste, and dropped that (remotely) in the same area. He certainly wasn't efficient using a machine which will cost millions (initially). But its definitely one for the future, the far distant future.............

Interesting. I don't know about the latice boom. lattice has compresion strength but not much tortional strength. but maybe it could be worked out. ran my first Volvo excavator last week. I liked it but I dont think I would buy one. I dont have a dealer close. I am afraid parts would be high. I had a Komatsu' and that was the problem with that. Holy crap the parts were through the roof. I run a Cat with 26,000 hrs on it. I wonder if my buddy will get that many hrs out of his Volvo?

Hmm...From 00:28 to 01:53, the music sounds like the beginning of a popular NIN (Nine Inch Nails) song. On a more serious note, the front "see-through" corner pillars look like they were borrowed from Volvo's concept car from about two years ago.

I can't imagine any of this ever becoming standard. This is obviously dreamed up by someone with no idea about day to day use of such machines. The track system would be a hazard due to its ground pressure characteristics, the bit where they swivel to cope with the stepped terrain in particular could make the machine topple is a soft spot was encountered. The detachable cab has no benefits and would be unreliable, the bucket cam is a waste of technology. The dreams of a child...

yeah its cool but its also gimmicky, more stuff to break, and most likely too many safety computers telling you what to do. seriously with the detatchable cab thing though, their idea is to have you operate in teeny tiny eye strainovision? see, its gimmicky, still very cool but when you need a trackhoe to just be a trackhoe im sure it falls short from the traditional style.

some elements alone seem ok at best, but the machine overall... this is grade A non functional garbage that should never see the light of day. IF it were to be, it'd be so expensive that anyone who could ACTUALLY need a machine like this would never profit off of it
