I had to buy a Volvo and now we need to see what is under the hood because
Volvo V50 Classic with 230 000 kilometers needs some basic service.

Enjoyed that. I also have a V50 1.6 and for a tiny diesel it is wonderful to drive. Economical and comfortable. I also think the design is beautiful esp. compared to transformer like sharp ugly modern cars. Subscribed.

Совершенно правильно! Раньше замена фильтра, потом слить масло из поддона. Дальше к тому насосу что прокачивали топливо приделать трубку например медную изогнутую полукругом, вставить ее в сливное отверстие и удалить остатки старого масла. (Трубку согнуть радиусом примерно 2 см в виде буквы " J". Масло после замены будет чистое! :-)🙂

10:38 "It's like watching paint dry..." Tip: On the maintenance schedule. I always undo the oil plug first. While it drain completely, I do all the other stuff that's needed. So, first and last thing to do. As such it really drain all the "crap" inside. But I don't have to "wait" a single minute. ;-)

Yes you are correct! In my case most important thing is to drain oils when they are still warm and crap mixed in it would not have time to settle down... Waiting is not that big problem since nobody pays from this. But of course it would still be good to be fluent in the job so order of tasks plays a big role in the outcome. One problem is that when this type of work is performed only couple of times during the year I easily forget that how it was efficient to do even its quite simple things 🤣

Interesting! I'm thinking about buying a V50 DRIVe from 2009 for 4.500€ in Germany as my first car (155k km, great condition). Would love to see more Videos!

Thanks. If those kilometers are right You would have a Small beauty there 😉 I personally have been driving over a decade with old MB Sprinter 312D and compared to that this Volvo is humanity vs. Torture 🤣. V50 is perfect car for every day driving if you want more practicality than a sports car...

@@BizlaC is there an eolys fluid container somewhere in Volvo too??? French versions with same engine have it but does this Volvo V50 have it somewhere in the chassis too???

Thank You very much for this information. I have to search that car bottom for the reservoir when next time under... And then to purchase the fluid kit. Pretty sure it has not been topped up lately 🤦🤐

Hei loistava video! Mulla tismalleen samanlainen classic, väriä myöten ja vastaava huolto olis tarkoitus tehdä. Tosta löpösuotimen vaihdosta lueskelin foorumeilta ja monenlaista mielipidettä oli ilmaamisen tarpeesta. Lisäksi vähän hämäsi kun tossa suodattimessakin tuntuu olevan eroja, ehkä vuosimallin perusteella? Mulla kuitenkin juuri samannäköinen suodatinkompleksi joten tän videon avulla osaan itsekin alkaa ilmailemaan oikeasta letkusta, ja vielä niin että pitäisi käyntiinkin lähteä! Täytyy tuollainen pilteeman pumppu käydä ostamassa kun hyvin näytti toimivan. Ja nyt tubesta löytyy video missä se ilmaus noin tehdään 😝!

Oleppas hyvä videosta vaan... Kyllä määkin niitä videoita jotain kattelin ja yllätys oli, että oma suodatin olikin päältä hiukan erilainen. Ihan varmaa tietoo ei kanssa ilmauksesta löytyny niin pikkasen jännitti kuinka mahtaa mylly käynnissä pysyä ja kyllä siellä vielä kupla tai kaks ilmaa oli, mutta niistä selvis pikku rykimisellä... Biliksen pumppu oli kyllä hyvä hintasekseen

@@JuhaErkkila Jep toi päälipuoli suodattimesta tuntuu olevan useassa videossa erilainen mitä omassa, ja sun autossa. Taitaa olla näihin viimisiin tullut vähän erilainen malli.

Thanks for watching. About airing Im not sure what would happen... In best case tranfer pump would be able to prime high pressure pump but in worst case air bubbles would travel into high pressure line and soften the pressure rise so much that no fuel would come through nozzles. Much easier to properly deair the system before and at least Im not gonna try without deairing first 🤔😝

Good question. Unfortunately I don't know the answer and did not easily find out that either. Hopefully someone could help You with your question! But maybe quicker answer could be found from some car forum?

My car is Volvo S40 1.6 D . Drive Start stop momentum Bi -xenon 109 hp 2010 PSA motor. Dit year just 6 year km 350.000 no problems . My drive still is normally en Volvo is a amazing economic in City 4.9 Lt. , great traffic 5.2 liter exit city Speed 70 km/h gear 4 Outside temperature 14-22 only 3.4 + - 3.6 Liters end I'm testing more time's,I finish the test by filling the tank to the neck with each try and refilling it at the end. wearing Summer 140 km/h speed 5 gear with vehicle loaded extra 350 kg + (aircondition in automatic mode open ) end car 4.2 liters diesel ...it consumes. That's why I'm not selling my car and I can't change it and I've been using it for 6 years. A foot note: I don't know, this is how I understood these vehicles. Volvo also needs an update from time to time to achieve these figures. It necessarily enriches the injector nozzles and the air mixture with the software, making the car quieter and more economical. The only problem is that these vehicles need this update and the fuel level is matched to it!

@@rossibalboa9579 great to hear you are happy with your car! Normally the adaptation values (add a bit of fuel on one injector, remove a little on one) should be a part of the original software and doesn’t need regular updates. If everything works good there is mostly no need for any updates at all, its just a thing that some manufacturers add as a thing to do on the service to make it sound like you really got value for the money and to make you go to the authorized dealer.

@@NilsKall Thank you, I did not fully understand the process you wrote! You wrote that there is no need to update, but my injectors do not have a problem, if you understand that. You wrote that I need to disassemble and add some diesel, why? I did not understand this very clearly, I would be glad if you write in more detail. Thank you very much in advance regards

Ok, my mum has a 2010 Volvo V50 1.6 DRIVe with the Peugeot 1.6 diesel engine and the Eolys emissions system. This model is know for turbo blowing and engine sludge. Volvo and Ford say to use 5W30 which meets A5/B5 specification. Peugeot say to use PSA B71 2290 in this engine. I guess low saps is better for car with DPF. Which oil should I go for?.

I have used exactly that oil what they recommend. I always forget that letter what it is but oil for dpf cars... Been driving now almost 100 000 km with this and total is over 300 k km. And Im guessing it is still with the original dpf and so far without any problems too. Savings from using cheaper oil then recommendation could only be couple of euros per change creating more trouble elsewhere. It would be strange if they would give different recommendations on standard level / specification... Maybe those recommendations are referring more to oil brands what they are promoting... Low sulfur it should be in every case

Castrol MAGNATEC STOP-START 5W-30 A5 is the volvo recommendation in Finland and that is the oil I've been using

Hi Juha, which engine code do you have? Was this oil quality: ACEA A5/B5 and Viscosity: SAE 5W-30 Thanks.

Best Oil for that engine is Ravenol SSV, 0W30

I am thinking that I should sell my 1.6D 2008 C30 becazse it has 254.000km and I am afraid of ending up with a heap of scrap metal. The car is fine. I don't drive past 220 revs before it's warmed up and I service it regularly. I could sell it for 4000€ and then get a 2007 C30 with a 2.0D engine. Should I sell my current 1.6D C30?

Well Im not an expert in these... I guess baddest thing for these is short distance driving without loading the engine so in that sence kilometers might not be the worst thing killing the engine/exhaust system... I have now something like 320 000 in it and dpf clean would be reguired soon (should have been done already). But if you still get 4000€ from your 2008 would be time to sell it and get proper Volvo engine! 🤣😉

With proper use and most important maintenance. These engines can last for a quite serious milleage. The "Taxi" examples are more than many. From the Citroen Xsara Picasso, Peugeot's, to these Volvos, Ford, Mazda... So your decision should be economics and specially your desire to change rather than replace due to damage. ;-)

Он у меня, наверное, 10 месяцев ... И я проехал с ним 30 тысяч км, и особых претензий у меня нет. Топливный фильтр забился на первых 15 000 км / сек, но это, вероятно, из-за какого-то дерьма в топливе, полученном с заправки ... Была пара ночей минус 25 ° C и завелась с них тоже с оригинальным аккумулятором. Так что до сих пор я был очень доволен этим. Расходует в среднем 5,5 л / 100 км при моей езде.

There are multiple different brands of filters and all of them have their own part numbers... I suggest that you check correct code for your car locally from brands that are available in your car parts store.

Ei ihan puhaltamalla käy pikahuolto uusissa autoissa? Tuo Bilteman pumppu näytti olevan toimiva? On manuaali ilmeisesti. Itsellä XC60 automaatti ja vaiheiston vaihtoväli 60 000 ei vaan ole Volvon huolto ohjelmassa kuin taxeilla?? Joten varmaan jää useista vaihtamatta, jos ei itse pidä huolta.

Eipä toi ekalla kerralla ihan lentämällä mee kun ei tiedä kunnolla edes missä osat on 😛 6 vaihteinen manuaali on toi ja melkoisen alhaisilla kierroksilla tietokone ohjeistaa autoo ajamaan... Eikä tietoo vaihteistoöljyistä käsketäänkö niitä vaihtaan ollenkaan mutta tohon vissiin vaihdettiin kun vetarin Stefan siihen vaihtoivat... Ja kyllä se öljyjen vaihto vaan halvinta huoltoo olis moneen vehkeeseen 😝

Bilteman pumppu oli kyllä hyvä... Monta halpaa kokeillut ja monesti niistä imut katoo jossain kohtaa. Toi oli kyllä hyvänolonen ja oikeesti tuntui imu kahvassa 🤣

А после откручивания масляного фильтра в поддон еще стекло 150 мл. отработки!!! Если нет ни малейшего понятия, зачем калечить авто?

Да, вы правы ... Перед тем, как слить масло из поддона, ненадолго приоткрыл крышку фильтра, просто на видео это не показано должным образом ... Но вы правы, было бы лучше сначала заменить фильтр, чтобы дать ему как следует слить в кастрюлю. Это была моя первая встреча с этой машиной, поэтому я больше не помню, почему я сделал это в неправильном порядке ... Извините за это!

Well At least the fuel filter was british and now it is installed into french engine! - What could possible go wrong? 🤦‍♂️🙄🤷‍♂️
