Thanks for a well thought out video. Watched it a couple of times and changed the battery in my wife’s 2020 XC40 T5 easily. It really wasn’t hard at all, but I am a trained motorcycle mechanic. Folks complaining about this design should go work on a motorcycle! That will give you new appreciation for this design. Tip: two of the rubber grommets that hold the airbox popped out when I removed it. Make sure account for all three before you reassemble.

Technology has made life so much easier. How pathetic and sad were the days when WE could simply remove two terminal connections, replace battery and reconnect the terminals and be on our way.

Hey there VMorozov, great video. I shall be attempting this proceedure tomorrow. My vehicle is the 2019 XC40 T5 Momentum. But please tell me, what about the battery reset which tells the car’s computer or control module that the battery is new. The control module needs to know this information in order to properly charge the battery and control the vehicle electrical system. Can you tell me why this is not required or is it? Thankyou.

10000%, it's as intentional as can be, everything is made 10x more difficult than necessary these days. All the $ from service fees obv. I still refuse to play their game and will learn and do what's necessary. It's a scam hidden in plain sight, as most things are these days.

I replaced mine with a EverStart Platinum AGM from Walmart $179, as long as the specs are the same (H6 / LN3 / 48 12 Volt, 760 CCA) then there's no configuration needed for the BMS after the jobs done. install then drive away. I have never had an error code after installation , but if I had usually you only have to drive the car for a few minutes at highway speeds and it will self correct.

That battery could have been taken out straight up had they designed that back hold-down strap contraption differently, as that is the one thing that's in the way from that happening. Just the strap would have been fine, as the front bracket stops it from moving forward, and with all the cabling attached, that battery isn't going to move upward. Talk about over engineering things. If that were my car, I'd take that strap contraption out of there or cut the top part off if it hold the battery from going backward toward the firewall. That is one ridiculous design for a hold-down strap.
