Volvo XC40 Petrol Review - Still the one to pick? | First Drive | Autocar India

With BS6 just around the corner, Volvo has revised its XC40 compact luxury SUV. It's ditched the diesel engine and replaced it with a petrol engine, and while the diesel was All-Wheel Drive, this one is Front-Wheel Drive. Everything else we loved about it still remains though, including its funky styling, luxurious cabin and vast equipment list. Priced at Rs 39.9 lakh (ex-showroom), is it still the one to pick? Gavin D'Souza spends a day in Goa with it to find out.

Finally a car to give hard time to X1. For driving X1 is still way ahead but that interior of XC 40 is way way better than anything in this segment.

Also, X1 has more cabin space and a diesel engine compared to XC40. Plus, BMW offers optional extended warranty for the 5th and 6th years.

I doubt it. X1 driving pleasure is something else :). If people just prefer gizmos, then sure XC 40 may be picked but X1 is allround package.

Bmw x1 handling and diesel refinement and mileage cannot be match with xc40 , xc40 is more of tech and luxury no doubt

Gotta red xc60 inscription 2 months back, and trust me, volvo is atleast 2 years ahead of bmw and merc, at the moment. Superb, absolutely superb. I just dont have words to describe

Way too expensive for the kind of engine they offer in XC40 in India. C’mon they have much powerful and reasonable T5 and T6 trim which they could have definitely offered at this price point in India. There’s a reason why most people prefer German brand over Scandinavian which does not even make them feel special enough to throw in that kind of money.

Same here I'd not buy any of these I'd have the Skoda superb style varient for 33 lakhs on road in which you get the amazing 1.8 TSI with a 6 speed manual and a bigger boot which is waaaay better than this status symbol for badge snobs. That's me but if I wanted a 4x4 I'd choose the endeavour or the Mahindra alturas

I don't agree here the volvo xc60 is the one to go for much better equipment options and a larger package. VOLVO has greatly misjudged the market and the lack of 4wheel drive and whats with this compact suv joke its just a sham, A vehicle built on a car chassis with reduced performance and lack of equipment with a fancy name soft roader. A compact is for people who crave an suv but don't have the budget for it, Its what the fox finds as an alternative for the sour grapes it cant reach. To be practical a Maruti, Hyundai, Nexa, toyota, ford, tata can have compacts at cheaper prices but for a volvo naaaaa its a pass.
