Volvo XC90 Shifter Claw Replacement Step By Step (Loose Or Pop Out Of Gear) - Easy 30 Minutes Job

Volvo xc90 has a common problem with the shifter claw. Over time the part gets old and break. Shifter would jumps out of gear somtime and has a lot of free play, loose shifter. Must buy oem part to replace.

Just did mine. I was trying to push the clips in to no avail... So I found out you don't need to push them in, just get a little leverage under those cylinders and pop them out, the clips are beefy!

first thing first great job and thank you. second thing great Video. third i have a questions about why you didnt opt to take the " Wood trim and Grey shifter PRND indicator thingy (cant remember the correct part name) apart and the shifter boot and shift knob apart from the console.

This one pop outta gears. The shifter was loose cause of the broken claw.

I didn't use anything to get the shift knob off. Pull straight up.

I gave my shifter a good yank, it didn't pull out of the control lever, broke it and pulled out all those plates. Now it's more than a half-hour, $30 job 😒

Double check your work again, make sure everything is in the right spot. The whole shifter assembly could be bad.
