At the Volvo dealership, my brother and I were trying out one of Volvo cars. After test drive which was absolutely amazing, I asked about how to open the hood. The old man playfully clapped in his hands and I looked back at the hood thinking it would open. @@ambessashield9360 first of all: the design. How your from Sweden maybe, with all due respect, you’re accustomed with it. For a lot of costumers, Volvo’s language design is “the thing” when deciding for a car. it will, as Volvo SA has it listed on its site, however SA is a big country - 600km won't even get you halfway from CPT to JHB, how long would you need to charge for a full charge, you would need to charge up twice, with almost no charging stations here. normally the drive time is around 13 hours, but if you have to add 2 charges at x amount of hours per charge, it would be a very long drive indeed. Hybrid makes more sense in SA, fully EV is not the best idea imho, also, lithium battery manufacturing is in no way shape or form, sustainable and "green".

Exceptional car. In my opinion, the best electric car of all time. A consumer dream that could one day come true. And for this reality I have a question about the batteries. I live in Brazil, specifically in the northeast of the country where temperatures até quite high. It passes 40° degrees easily. Can high temperatura damage the battery pra even shorten its life?
@VolvoCars2 жыл бұрын
High temperatures can damage the high voltage battery, especially if it is exposed for a long time. If possible, avoid leaving the car unconnected at temperatures higher than 30 °C (86 °F). The car can actively cool the battery while it is parked, but this consumes power and leads to a fall in the State Of Charge (SOC). If the car is charged while it is parked the battery can be cooled without being discharged.

Beautiful as ever with timeless good looks. With all the cameras, Volvo better incorporate dashcam recording and something like Tesla Sentry mode... Also, I thought the addition of a glovebox bag hook and integrated removeable trashcan in the XC40 were super simple yet innovative additions that improve livability greatly, disappointed that it doesn't appear here. Love the new headlights and the addition of side view cameras; I personally prefer side view cameras over BLIS. Video says 600km range, which is 372.8 miles, but Volvo website lists 300 mile range which is a substantial difference, especially with Tesla ranges steadily increasing with Model S at 405 and Model Y at 348 miles of range. At 300 miles max, if you only charge to 80% you realistically expect 240 miles which is not enough to eliminate range anxiety in my opinion, especially when even Tesla with an extensive charging network has tragically long wait times during holidays, which is when most people would travel.

I’m and very old client of Volvo and I’m driving now my 5th model, in all honesty I’m baffled with the extreme weight of this car 2,8Metric Tons!! And not in the least with the ridiculous high price tag of 110.000¢!! Yes the same price as a very expensive Audi, BMW or even Porsche car. Where is VolvoCars going with this kind of price tags for a car that can drive max. 600 (Theoretical) kilometers? I’m puzzled what this will give in practical terms and the total cost of driving this luxurious beast, take everything in the total price like insurance, Charging station placement at home (your home electricity layout must be able to sub stain the charge…). If you don’t have a solar panel installation the costs will be even higher… Etc.etc. Anyway, for myself I have great doubts of buying these next “upgrades” in the following years, new. Models will keep coming out…but at the point that the living cost is still more expensive every day, I fail to see the “added value” of investing around 150.000€ to drive around with a car that is daily road is blocked in traffics jams with hundreds of horsepower to my command…..doing nothing….waiting to clear up up the traffics jam. Added value compared to my existing V90? Except safety I see no reason to upgrade to this model.

as a designer, i respectfully advise to rise height of nose or reduce height of rear window breakdown for relate back and nose, and maybe rise the angle of back bottom part from back wheel point to end of the car. in X90 models, nose is too low according to back and back bottom part is too wide from top to bottom, this two point showing suv cumbersome, you have succeeded this ratio in XC40,i wish you do the same or better in X90 series, in my opinion these points are pulling 1 step back from legendary perfection in X90 suv's of volvo. at least my choice is jumping to other brand suv's just because of this reason.
