Absolutely Important (and potentially lifesaving information) for those with Tracheostomy tubes - however, it’s somewhat disheartening to see that the effect I have on women hasn’t changed in the last 20 years 😩😩😩 🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤ - Sooo Sorry that you haven’t been well lately, and about your getting sick on the tour bus - give them the cleaning bill, since the Barf bag was defective.
@LifewithaVent2 ай бұрын
Thanks for your well wishes. I cleaned up most of the mess with wet wipes and paper toweling (provided to me by the bus driver). I am not sure what they did after I left the bus. They probably have a cleaning protocol if someone gets sick.
@olddudesteve49832 ай бұрын
@@LifewithaVentthey probably revised their protocol: “Don’t let the Vent Girl back on the Bus” 😊😊❤❤

If a person with a tracheostomy has a g-tube, will they vomit out of the mouth or out of the g-tube?

Out the mouth.

If a person with Tracheostomy and PEG, will they vomit out of the peg or mouth? Hope you answer my question🙏
@LifewithaVentАй бұрын
If the PEG is closed or capped, the person will vomit out the mouth. If the PEG is open, some stomach contents may leak out the PEG, but the majority will exit via the mouth.

Thank you so much for sharing some of your story with me. I am sorry your son has been through so much. You may want to ask why they switched him to a cuffed trach. For people with a lot of secretions, one method to help lessen the effects of the secretions is by using a cuffed tracheostomy tube. With that said, the cuff needs to be inflated for this method to be effective. At least once a day, the trach tube cuff needs to be deflated, and the person needs to be suctioned to get rid of all the secretions. After suctioning, the cuff needs to be inflated again. If the cuff on the trach tube is not inflated, there is no benefit to to using a cuffed trach tube for secretion management. I am sorry you and your son are going through so much. All my best to you and your son.

Hey girl, I just got my tracheostomy today. I was wondering...if my throat closes and I vomit, will it still pass out of my mouth? I'm so worried about vomit not coming out (with a trach of course) 😮.
@LifewithaVentАй бұрын
Hello. Thank you for your question. I am unsure about the specifics of your question. The "throat" is a general term and can be used by people to mean the oropharynx, trachea and/or esophagus. Starting at the mouth and moving toward the stomach/lungs, there is a small region of your "throat" called the oropharynx. This region is where both air and food/water pass through. After this region, the pathway splits into two general pathways--the esophagus and the trachea. The trachea is where air passes through and goes to your lungs. The esophagus is where food/water passes to go to your stomach. Where the pathway splits, there is a sphincter called the epiglottis. When eating/drinking, the epiglottis closes over the trachea to prevent food/water from going down the trachea and into your lungs. I explain all this because I am not sure which area you are concerned about closing. If your trachea is closed, this will not affect vomit passing through the esophagus. The vomit will move up and pass out your mouth. If your esophagus is closed, then vomit will not be able to pass up your esophagus and out your mouth. If your oropharynx is closed, then vomit will not be able to move up and into the mouth. Generally, when people talk about their "throat closing", they usually mean their airway (trachea) has closed. If this is how you are using the term, then yes, vomit will still pass out of your mouth. If this did not make sense or if you are still confused, please feel free to ask your medical provider.

My father (74) has tracheostomy tube placed 2days ago, yesterday Dr advised to give semi-solid food and fruits to eat as he haven't eaten anything for past 2 week's,as he's gone thru cardiac surgery and following to that lung infection, during night whatever he ate most of it he vomitted,he's in ICU for past 2 week's,so hopefully they taken care of him,when I hear about this today morning,I can't imagine the pain and tiredness my father gothru.i have been seen your video regarding tracheostomy tube for past one week, earlier I have so scared of, requested Dr to avoid tracheostomy,but Dr told there's no other option to improve further than tracheostomy , so that he can able to eat food,hopefully in a day or two he can able to breathe normal and speaking valve may provide.
