i like how you did this because this song is meant to be done over the top and u did it over the top, and you have a nice voice. You also have the type of voice that needs alot of training because its so big and i believe its so quick to lose and go from one point to the next, but nevertheless, you have a rare gift and you have a fan. :)

well, i have only been following Von probably since '05.. and i do remember the crooner thing, but i think the first thing i heard him sing was over the rainbow where he belted a High G at the end. why i fell in love with him for cause of his major range and ability to sing everything.. i mean he sang a Kristen Chenowith song :) .. I think i am still pissed for his idol treatment. :( but yes. he is fantastic!!

@b9lktrekie29 depends what you class as belting, Because some people think of using chest voice (thick folds) as belting, but infact what von uses (which is correct technically) when he does all his high notes is thin folds tilt, which some people call "mix" although you are not mixing anything. The reason he can make such a big sound on those high notes is because he can make a very strong closure with his vocal cords.

um...this appears to be von's rendition of victor's version that he did in the original broadway cast of smokey joe's cafe. according to that style, von's voice and character are pretty brilliant. i don't think it should necessarily be compared to adam lambert unless you're claiming that adam stole from victor. they all have extremely high voices, which is great, but they didn't steal their vocal cords from each other to von: keep it up. i like your voice, and i don't just mean the cords. :)

Up to when he sang everything in his upper register (2:33), it was a masterpiece. Got a tad messy toward the end. Raw talent though!

i see no comparison to Adam. do you say wannabe cause they both have an incredible range? i do think its weird that both Adam and Von were on Idol the same year. and Von can riff like no other, I am a huge ADAM fan but have been following Von for years, and i have never heard Adam riff like this Von can. It this performance and many others. !! thanks for posting!!!

@cortneyjo The first thing I thought when I saw this was wow he can sing, but then the second thought was, he's changing his act a bit to sound more like Adam. Not necessarily a bad idea, but somewhat obvious. He used to have that crooner sort of thing going, now motorcycle jacket, high falsettos and manic riffs? Either way, it was fantastic.

I've loved his voice ever sin e I was introduced to it years ago. But he has the same problem now that he did then. He doesn't do the same rendition of a song that he first came up with brilliantly. He's always changing and trying to go higher and it just doesn't work. Hopefully, experience and wisdom will help rein him in a lil bit. Still love him though...always will.

@VONxSMITH as far as the range, they are both basically the same. Adam doesn't use the whistle range/falsetto though. Here's the thing with Von, in my opinion, YES his instrument is amazing but he has NO musical taste. In fact, listening to him butcher songs is just horrible. He is a perfect example of a person with a great voice that doesn't know how to sing. As "good" as he is, he couldn't even sing "Cessa di piu resistere" a song that only uses 75% of his range... Learn some restraint.

I think he was well-supported until the string of E5/F5/G5 runs, but even the first sustained G5 was pretty well balanced imo

He can sing high but he looses all the power in his voice, and singing high is not equivalent to talent. Nothing special, except his ability to sing high....in my most humble opinion his overall voice sounds mediocre, and the dude needs to chill out …way too much drama going on in the act.
