Welder 3 - Winding the transformer

I wind a 240 volt welder transformer on a DIY bobbin using recycled iron cores from a couple of old transformers. I also talk about the rule of thumb for finding the number of turns required for the primary and secondary windings and connect the transformer to mains voltage to test it.

what is the size of the wire in primary and secondary coils

Primary was 12ga and secondary was 8ga. But as you’ll see in the last video that was not heavy enough for the target amperage.

Try weld aluminium with graphite electrodes.
