Oh that was the same for me, learned from two grannies around 10 , and now I’ll be 50 end of this year. My first ones were not great looking at all. Sometimes they’re still far from perfect, lol. One good thing about doing voodoo dolls as an early project, is they can look soooooo imperfect and still be awesome . 🥰😊

Oh that’s great. I never know what level I would describe my videos as. I feel like if you’ve made a few ami’s you can just listen and keep up. A beginner might not realize the repeats. Haha.. ❤️

I loved everything about this video. With all the counting stitches, I needed someone talking me through each. SUCH A HELP!!!! I have just finished the body but not started the embroidery yet. Don't change anything about your video. I could never have done this with a 15 minute video. The ONLY thing I would recommend is doing the arms FIRST. Trying to find the end of a new skein I was using (362 yds) was a messy nightmare. Lol I was rear ended in a wreck one year ago. This little guy is going in the rear window of my new (to me) car to warn motorist not to mess with me. 😂

Thank you! I’m glad you found it so helpful, and I agree, I will continue to put everything in and let the viewer decide if they wanna skip around or fast forward etc. I think this was my first attempt at no sew, after this I always do the arms and legs first now when necessary. I hope you enjoy your new to you car and that this little guy brings you good luck and keeps you safe 🥰

Just started and this is my second project. First was a simple soap pouch. I am absolutely grateful for the full length of the video and the explanations. It's easy enough for more advanced people to skip around. Only thing I would've changed was a quick example of how to do an increase or decrease, I had no idea what those were at the beginning lol.
@rhondadawnbutler10 ай бұрын
That’s awesome that this was only your second project and you got through it!!! I 100% agree with you that if your new to crochet, showing the increase and decrease would definitely be helpful. I almost did a learn to crochet the basic stitches video last year. And then I was going to attach a little project using that stitch to each video. But couldn’t decide if I was going backwards doing that. I actually got started with how to hold your hook, then realized there are sooooo many ways, and confused my own self on how to make it simplified. Lol. Thank you for the reminder, I may still do that. 👍😊 and thanks so much for crocheting with me, and letting me be a part of your new crochet journey, maybe see you in another one! ❤️😊❤️

I haven’t tested it in bigger yarn/hook. But that would be my suggestion. If it works, these guys in plushie yarn would be super cute.

@rhondadawnbutler Жыл бұрын
Hi serene, I don’t have a keychain size at the moment, but you could probably follow my gingerbread ornament pattern without the color changes, and smaller eyes to make a smaller version of the voodoo doll. Hope that helps for now ❤️😊❤️ GINGERBREAD MAN NO SEW CROCHET A LONG ORNAMENT KEYCHAIN kzbin.info/www/bejne/f4nJnGmnZ5iJn7c

I made a voodoo doll following this video for my other half, it’s green orc barbarian named baa-ph that is his favourite D&D character that’s he’s made… he now wants a bigger one… what would be the best way to this as i have already used chunky wool to make his first baa-ph? Double/treble up on the wool or just increase the amount of rounds?
@rhondadawnbutler7 ай бұрын
You may be able to increase the rows. For every increase row on the head you’ll need to have one more repeat row in the middle. The body is a bit trickier cause of proportions, but I would do at least one more row for every extra row in the head. And not do the arms or legs until you were on the row they are added. Personally I’d try doubling the yarn if you have a hook big enough. Good luck ❤️😊❤️

If I wanted to use an actual button instead of crocheting the button, what size do you suggest?
@rhondadawnbutler Жыл бұрын
Hi Stephanie, ummmm probably around a 20mm button. If you don’t have a stash of them and are going out to buy some specifically for this, try holding up some coins, or similar round objects to get an idea of the size that looks best. I think I would go bigger before I went smaller 👍😊

Oh and also I'm a little confused on what you said about. I think row 7-8. are you saying that each of those rows have a total of 7 rows each? If that makes sense. or did you mean that those 2 rows will come out to be 7 rows. Or am I just not understanding entirely?
@rhondadawnbutler Жыл бұрын
Hi johnnie. (For voodoo doll) Row 7 is your last increase row. (5sc, 1inc for a total of 42 stitches) then when you get to row 8… it will be 7 rows of 42 stitches. So rows 8 to 14 are all 42. Then I come back on row 15 to start decrease rows. Hope that helps 😊
@stephanierosado1299 Жыл бұрын
I’m needing a little help for the legs. Any time I did it while counting all the right stitches, mine only counts up to 11 stitches on each side/leg. I’ve been counting the whole time and it’s working, but that ONE spot I’m having serious trouble with. Is there any advice you can give?
@rhondadawnbutler Жыл бұрын
Hmmm. On the previous row, are you getting 24? Mathematically if the previous row is 24, that leaves 12 on each side… I’m trying to think where it’s going wrong, but I can’t think of anything. I do have a solution for you though, and that is to just do an increase somewhere on the backside of each leg to get you to the 12 stitches. I don’t think it will make any difference, unless you find happen to find the two missing stitches when you do the second leg, and then you may have to redo the first. I hope that helps. And Good luck 😊
@stephanierosado1299 Жыл бұрын
@@rhondadawnbutleryeah I kept counting and it was 24. But I decided to take your advice with the increase. I did it and redid it like 8 times but I kept getting 11 even when I counted 24. So I just increased and it turned out fine

So I've been having this issue while I'm krocheting the strands of my yarn unwind and come apart to where I have to stop and twist them back together or else I constantly snag the stands with the crochet hook and was curious if anyone had any advice on how to stop this from happening.
@rhondadawnbutler Жыл бұрын
Great question ! My yarn does that when I use the plush yarn. I think it’s because I grab and twist with my hook instead of physically doing yarn over. But Not 100 % sure. Hopefully someone out there has an answer for you 😊

Do you happen to have a printable pattern? I have made a couple of these, but when I go back to make them again, I have to go through the video over and over again. I am new at all this and it is so much easier for me to be able to look at the numbers than to have to watch such a long video over and over again. I do LOVE the video and learned a LOT from watching it, but to some degree I am still struggling without a pattern to look at.

For now I can only write the pattern at the top of the video. Unfortunately any way I look into it ends up I have to sign up for a online payment account. Which I don’t use. 😊
