I live in zone 7A. I have continued raising outdoors, my mother voodoo lilies. She planted the first pod outdoors in dappled shaded area about 20 years ago. This year, I have so many new liles that popped up and I am spreading them to different areas. I have tried searching online for the species for many years but I have and have never found what I have. In the fall I toss some mulch over the voodoo lily bed and come next June, they return! After seeing your indoor plant I am going to pot some up this fall.

Yes, the bulb comes back and grows a leaf stalk. Then that dies off and the plant goes dormant for the winter. In spring the whole process begins again.

Ours made these pinecone shaped orange berries, I am looking for a video or book that details the process. Yours is lovely! Thankyou!

Would these be like orchids and you not have to water them that much or would it be watered like a normal flower?

My is ready to bloom quite soon now, and its too cold here to put outside! Yikes!!! Normally mine don't bloom this early.I moved to a new house and apparently the basement here is warmer. I might have to put mine back in the basement too! How old is yours? Mine aren't near that big.

I apologize in advance if you've already answered this question, where did you get the corm? I know I can find them on eBay but that always makes me nervous. Also, very nice video!

@ginko27 Yes, it IS blooming age, but it isn't always easy to tell the difference between a leaf stalk and a flower bud until it starts growing out. If what you see starts growing up in the next two months, it could be a flower. Once it starts, it will go fairly rapidly. If it doesn't do anything until May, it's a leaf stalk.

hi! do you have small bulbs available? I'd like to purchase some of them.

I guess they become bulbs when they die in winter. I have some small and medium plants now. All I know is that I set the flower pot aside in the winter and the plant grows back in summer.

Mine has no flowers and it's about 5 years old I would say, not sure.It's about 40 inches tall now, with many babies this year. Right now I have bout 10 of them, It has no flower nor did ever have one. Do they at some point develop one? Because of the shape at the top it looks to me like this one will never have a flower, unless they change shape.. . Mine started small and grows bigger every year...

I really enjoyed this video! I got some Konjac corms on eBay, and have just started growing them (I think maybe they were grown in a greenhouse, so they don't know what season it is yet). The corms were all about 1/2 to 3/4", so I put seven of them in a 6" pot. Is that too cramped?
@NadiaGiordana

+sehrgut42 Yes, they should each have their own pot, but they may still grow alright.

@@ninetofive5864 I'm In New Zealand too and mine is only just growing - I'm guessing it's a leaf I'm getting. I lifted the corm from last year and only replanted it in September , so it was out of soil in Winter. Therein lies my problem....maybe :) lol

Hi. Have just bought two corms - as it smells so bad, is it possible to put outside when in its most potent state?
@NadiaGiordana
@NadiaGiordana 6 жыл бұрын
The corms don't usually smell unless you mean they are flowering (that's when they stink). If you live in a warm climate (night temperature 50 degrees F or warmer) then yes, you can plant them outside. If they are flowering, they may not develop leaves until some time in June.

The bulb comes back as long is it's not out in a area of the country that is too cold cold in the winter.. Where I live in the north it gets too cold in the winter so I bring mine inside and keep them on the basement for the winter.

I love this plant and everyone that comes to my house love it. everyone wants to know what it is or the name. Finally found out the name after 5 years...LOL IF I was going to sell them I wouldn't know what to ask them. The first one I got I paid 25.00 because I loved when when I saw it. I got it in a yard-sale a Hatian lady had. She didn't know the name.
