For VORANAH (VRNH), the journey began in 2002 with a deep passion for rock music and film scores. Fast forward to today, and he's drawing from those roots for his latest single, "Ghost in the Flames." This track isn’t just a song; it’s the herald of his second studio album, a project steeped in powerful rock foundations and modern pop-punk flair. With lyrics like "I’ve had enough of me, you've seen the worst of me," the song delves into themes of inner turmoil and self-discovery, adding layers of emotional depth.
The creation of "Ghost in the Flames" is a story of international collaboration. VORANAH teamed up with Swiss writer Aluel Ayok-Loewenberg and Korean-American writer Jasmine Park, each contributing to the vocal melody and lyrics. Initially crafted by Aluel during a business trip to Seoul, the song's raw emotion was later refined and completed by Jasmine. This collaborative effort culminated in a track brought to life by Choi Eunseo's emotive vocals, marking her official debut. Her husky voice perfectly encapsulates the song's essence, leaving a lasting impression.
Produced and mixed entirely at VORANAH’s own studio, VRNH Music & Sound, "Ghost in the Flames" features a rich, layered sound. VORANAH himself played multiple instruments, adding depth to the track. Bassist Isaac Kim brought additional energy with his performance, while Choi Eunseo's vocals were meticulously coached by producer Young Bae Jo, ensuring every note resonated with the intended emotion.
Originally written in 2020, "Ghost in the Flames" wasn’t included in VORANAH’s debut album, STUDIO SHYNESS, due to its stylistic differences. This track, along with others, was considered for a deluxe version of the debut album, but ultimately found its home in the upcoming second album. This long period of refinement has allowed the song to mature, offering listeners a piece that is both deeply personal and universally relatable.
"Ghost in the Flames" highlights VORANAH’s artistic journey and vision. It reflects his evolution from a rock-obsessed youth to a versatile artist, blending the old with the new.
