The Vorderkaserklamm is 400 m long and 80 m deep. At the narrowest point it measures 80 cm wide, at the top the gorge opens up to 6m.
There are 51 wooden walkways with 35 stairs and 373 steps. In 1977, the Vorderkaserklamm was declared a natural monument in St. Martin near Lofer.
At the end of the ice age, when the glacier ice had melted off, nature had come up with something particularly impressive. About 12 to 14,000 years ago, the scientists dated the birth of the Vorderkaserklamm. Masses of water inexorably cut their way deeper and deeper through the rock and created the natural monument Vorderkaserklamm. 5 to 6 mm of rock a year, the raging mountain river mills the rock.
From May to August, a variety of native orchids await you along the orchid trail. Please note that the gullies of the gorge are not suitable for pushchairs. For children from 3 years, the visit should be possible.
