Is Vcarve required for the Vortex or could I setup a rotary project in Fusion 360 and achieve the same result?

It's not strictly required, but Fusion puts their rotary features behind their machining extension which costs well over a thousand dollars, so at the moment we recommend people stick to VCarve. There are technically also other workarounds such as unwrapping the model in a program such as MeshLab and then importing that flatted model into Fusion for toolpath generation, or use Luban (from snapmaker) to generate rotary toolpaths on models with some copy pasting, but both are quite involved and can get frustrating to all but the most advanced users.
