Vortex UH1 gen2, why I picked it over Eotech and why I think it’s better!

This is a personal opinion as to why I picked the UH1 gen 2 over the Eotech and why I think you get more than what you pay for.

I like the reticule better than Eotech's and the design is very cyberpunk cool imo. The main complaint I have with all Vortex rds, not just this holographic, is their refresh rate. If you're transitioning between targets you can see very clearly the reticule drag or skipping. Not with Eotech. Other than that I really like the UH1. I picked up my UH1-gen 2 for $400 which I think is a steal. At $500+... not so much. You can get an EXPS 3-0 for that price. Vortex... price this at $100 cheaper like it used to be and you'd sell more. Fix your damn refresh rates too!

If the optic is ipx8 this means the optic wasn’t specifically test to water but it’s the max resistance as far as dust is concerned if the optic was tested the rating would be ip68 instead of the x

The refresh, the blue glass, the fact that it's not great with a magnifier or under nods are all deal breakers for me. We shoot at night here.

Good video. I just picked mine up this week. Also waiting for the Eotech to come in, do you think you would still stick to the vortex if the Eotech was around the same exact price point?

@Billygoat0409 That’s a good question. If I could get the Eotech at the same price with all the same features then I would definitely need to run them both side by side to confirm what one I would go with. But I’m really liking the UH1.

I have both. Id buy the uh1 again. The eotech? Nope. Shitty company, shitty product. Vortex is a stellar company and this is a stellar optic. My eotechs die in the safe, and ive had 3 of em fail on me. 2 delaminated, one had the fucking lens fall out. Junk. Add in eotechs horridly shady history, and.. fuck them.

@personal8795 like I mentioned in the video they do have or met requirements for the ipx8 rating. I think pew pew tactical did a stress test but I could be wrong? And out of curiosity (because I don’t know) are you not allowed because they have no military contract?

@@3200ish it would be outta my own pocket but depending on the unit there are things you can switch out. If the unit ordered it then yes it would have to be under contract. Edit: I was eager for the answer so I posted it right away realizing after a few mins you said it. Thank you for the info tho great vid

Your reasons are understandable. If there’s anything I’ve learned, it’s that things are only worth as much as you’re willing to pay for. I’m not saying the UH1 is bad, but it does look “futuristic” like it belongs on a futuristic gun lol EOTechs just looks more aesthetically pleasing on any gun.

@its.Andy1 Yea just as far as features go The UH1 typically found at $599 but has night vision setting and QD mount. The Eotech exps 3 with the same features typically found at $749 so a $150 ish dollar difference. I’m not at all bashing the Eotech and find them to be amazing optics. But if someone can save some money for the same features on an also amazing optic then the AMG is a solid option.

@JohnSheman similar to the Eotech. Both adjustments made on the right side of the optic in 1/2 moa at 100 yards. They are not positive click more mushy like the Eotech as well.

I love mine. I used it on my 300 blk out Maxim pdx and my lwrc. It’s great imo. I also have a holosun and I think the vortex reticle has better adjustment point of aim more than a donut of death. They both are great and cheaper than an eotech. Just try them before if you have astigmatism. They also look sweet and enclosed easy night vision adjustments. I am not military but plinking around and training they work fine.

curious...how is it American made glass but you said the reticle is outsourced overseas..???

@joemarchinski914 there’s a company from the UK/Great Britain that makes the reticle itself (the dot and circle you see and aim with) so that would be the lasers and some of the technology behind it. To my understanding Vortex makes the housing glass and everything else.
