I just got the msi ge62 6qf 2 days ago. It's a really great machine with great performance and built. Only complain i have is the left side of the laptop where you rest your left palm (where the HDD is at the bottom) can get REALLY hot even in idle.

Depending on your heat threshold, It can get pretty hot, but i think i'm sorta used to it now. Keeps you warm if you're in a cold room.

How's the fan noise in idle mode? I couldn't really tell from the mic recording you made. I had the GS60 and it was horrible. It wouldn't go below 40% RPM so i returned it.

+Purzius This is a really question.I too, had the gs60 and the idle noise, while not terrible, was definitely noticeable. I get if the CPU fan went if I had like 30 tabs in Chrome open, or was looking at photos or high def videos on my hard drive...But when I have absolutely nothing open and it maintains the same pitch,never turning off, I found it to be aggravating. So if more people could chime in with more answers to this question, that would be amazing.

+Vortez The raid capabilities of the entire GE and GT series is one of the standout features. Not every model in the lineup has them though and the spec varies wildly from machine to machine. I'm not familiar with this 014 model. I just bought the 037 model because my initial interest was for a GE model and I discovered that it didn't support RAID, so I opted to save a bit more money and buy a higher spec. According to the spec sheet, it supports 2x PCIeGen3 in RAID. The performance gain is quite significant between variants of the motherboard and what bussing they support for RAID. But the information is not always very clear, so it's probably one of the most important things that a person can talk about when reviewing a GE70 or GE72 series MSI laptop. If you're going to benchmark the GPU with 3 tests, it's probably worth it to take 10-15 seconds to talk about RAID capabilities - whether it has them or not, what they are like if it does and how they fare in benchmarks. To be fair, storage throughput speed doesn't have a huge impact on gaming, but for a gaming/media processing computer, it's quite good.

I almost bought this laptop and I'm very glad that I waited and did my research. The PCIe 3.0x4 is a little confusing since they also have models with Super Raid 4 (which is actually only 2 drives) and previous models in the GE and GT series have had 2x or 4x drives which could be arranged in RAID for around the same speed, but by switching to the lower SATA transfer mode for around 1.8GB/s. I'm picking up the GT72S-037 instead, which has 2xNVMe RAID0 capability. You are correct of course in saying that this model doesn't have a RAID configuration available for the boot drive, but since the Super Raid Boot setups are one of the things that make MSI really stand out among their competitors, it's probably worth it to mention it and clarify that this model doesn't actually have this feature.

Just to let you know your video convinced me to get the GE72 6QF, my first gaming notebook. Can you tell me if the m.2 SSD is sata or PCI-e and how many m.2 slots are inside. I'm already thinking of upgrading to a 250GB card or another 128GB to run in raid 0. Will removing the bottom tray void the warranty? If so this sucks. I don't really want to wait 2 years before I can do any upgrades.

+diyar temel Where did you download the SteelSeries Engine software from? Suggestion: do a uninstall of SteelSeries software from Control Panel and then find the notebook on MSI's website and under Support/Service download the SteelSeries Engine, install and perform an update. This should work!

+XilumX1 most gaming scenarios dont need more than 8gb of ram, the only thing youd want more for is if you multitask like hell while running intense games - which almost never happens. IMO, 8gb is plenty for gaming these days. in 2 years though, i think 16 will become the happy medium

+Michael Elch Unfortuinately as you well spotted - 6QF only has the one M.2 slot so having an additional M.2 drive or doing M.2/SATA RAID isn't possible.

Hi, I'm trying to find out if I can use this notebook with 3 external monitors. By that I don't mean I need to be gaming on 3 external monitors. One external monitor is enough for me for gaming, but I'd like to have 3 external monitors when I'm working. Also, I don't mean 3 external plus notebook itself, just the 3 external monitors with the notebook going dark is enough. I can see that there are not enough ports, but with something like a HDMI splitter, can the hardware handle it?

I am sure even the dell laptop had some heat, you probably did not notice it, but I may be wrong. 45 celsius is perfectly fine, you can go up to 80 on some cpus. Recently I had a Acer black edition gaming laptop that was overheating due to very bad design and while gaming the CPU had 98 celsius which is not fine but the manufacturer will say so. BTW on the vortez website he is showing temperatures and I think they are around 60 or 70, which is very nice IMO

What do you think of Fangbooks? I don't know if you've heard about them, they're re-branded MSI laptops with a lot of customizability for a cheaper price. They're sold by CyberpowerPc. Their version offers a 500gb m.2 ssd, I'm not sure if this one does. I had a old MSI GT780 DXR, it lasted 4 years. I was very pleased with it (once it fall off my desk but didn't get a scratch). I had 1 year warranty but 2 years after my purchase it had an issue to the A/C and I sent it to repair service for free, they even changed my battery and I hadn't pay a penny. I purchased it yesterday, still waiting for delivery but I bet it'll be awesome. But as for almost everything, it depends, you may have a bad or good experience. If not sure, look around for other notebooks with the same price and compare specs, I do it every time and read reviews, normally if more than 50% of reviews are good you may consider to purchase it.

Yes, most people usually always have it plugged in if possible. The battery life is only 2 hours.
