I have a vintage Amphibian with the similar shape but vintage case, i believe its somewhere around 39mm, with the 2209 17jewel manual wound movement in it. It has the flat caseback, so it is super thin, but with a similar super dome acrylic. The green lacquer dial now has a spider web of cracks on it, and that web shines with a golden hue, while the green is now a deep green gradient effect sunburst. Amazing looking thing, had it serviced and they said it was from around the period that was stated when i bought it(my birth year, 1989)and it probably was the first service it ever had. Now performs at +10s/day. It has 18mm lugs, and i now have it on a geckota beads of rice bracelet. One of my favourites in the collection.

Yes, the 2209 was the original Amphibia movement used. 18mm was also the original lug width. The 2209 was slimmer than the 2415 so the case back is more flat and lower profile. +10 is very good from a 2209. They are a very reliable and durable movement. Its common for them to be used for 30+ years with no servicing; despite the service interval being 10 years. I have seen vintage dials with the lacquer cracked as you describe, and they look lovely. You can get them down to 1 to 2 seconds accuracy if you regulate your "Bochka" yourself.

I have 090679. Its beautiful and the only thing changed was sanding the bezel with scotchbrite. Takes away that gloss and blends with the beadblast of the case. Its a wonderful thing.

Great buy, white dials are my fave, quick at telling the time and no date. Bracelets is fine they are light but don't rattle, mine is same but flares to 24 on lugs. Own a 090916 stock and gave dad a 090059 polished with a solid link and a 710 bezel.

Great review as usual. I do like Vostok Amphibias but the first thing to do with a Vostok is to replace the bracelet. Great watches but terrible bracelets.

Hi, thanks for uploading this informative video. I've noticed since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, on eBay, this watch is no longer available from Russia. Does anybody know if it's possible to buy this watch directly from Russia? UK and USA are charging ridiculously high prices.

Do you know if in the UK we have to pay customs and clearance charges? I ordered stuff from Ali Express and surprisingly I didn't have to pay any charges.

There is no import tax. Under £150 there is no VAT charged. Over £150 VAT is charged at 20%. AliExpress automatically applies this on orders over £150 therefore UK Customs don't. Regards, #WR4K

That bezel seriously needs to be swapped out... Brushed steel might be nice.. Or ceramic.. It the mod bezel had a better lume pip, you might even be able to actually dive with it. Cheap and easy mod....

Correct. Apologies for the mistake. I later corrected it in the video when discussing the case back. Unlike many other watch channels I do not edit out mistakes to appear flawless. Therefore there are a plethora of verbal, and visual mistakes in my 224 videos. Regards, #WR4K
