Would have loved seeing a before and after of the video quality. That epoxy though... I can appreciate wanting to keep things from moving... but these mod jobs are so gross. noodohs You could remove it all together. But for me that's a huge time waster. I used to remove them just to show people how ungodly gunked up they are with this stuff. After checking out your PCE DUO recap video, AV Fami RGB mod, this one and a couple of others, I was all excited to buy upgraded RGB mod boards for my systems. I also saw a couple of others such as the MEGA DRIVE RGB amp and the SuFami Jr amp. Went to check how much postage for 3 PCE and 3 MD boards is to Australia. Got to "country", saw only "US", cried a little. Evil, just EVIL! Thankfully my best friend is a Yank (I don't hold it against him....much!), so he can send them to me. Also, damn you are a hottie! Oh and, yuck. What a mess that poor DUO-R was! I honestly thought you called him "douche-in dance", but it was just your incorrect pronunciation of "doujin" (door-jin)

Excuse my insolence, my liege, but I hath merely meandered upon this establishment, and I hath but the slightest inquiry, what be-ith the purpose of modding the PC DUO-R? Are the region mods to allow different versions of games to be played on the same system? I am assuming the RGB mods are for different RGB effects for lights. Again, please excuse me being a newb, I am new to Modding consoles, but LOVE “legacy electronics”, soldering, and absolutely enjoy all the retro tech enthusiasts/enthusiasm. Thanks in advance from a friendly fellow internet patron! Btw, love the channel and I am definitely subbing!
@Leeofland6 жыл бұрын
I saw you talked about the region mod at 29:30 (ish). My question now is, were the games written to have d0-7 flipped? And was that just a difference between the coders/engineers “preconceptions” on what was the better to do things? Sorry for so many questions, curiosity has taken over!
@akaRicoSanchez5 жыл бұрын
@@Leeofland the region locking is just there so that a game bought in Japan can't be used on an american console and vice versa. It's pretty dumb in the first place, but even more so with the Turbo Duo and Duo R because the CD games were not region locked, only the HuCard games were. As for the RGB mod, Turbo Duo and Duo R don't have official RGB cables and the RGB signals are not even brought up to the video connector. The RGB mod brings these signals to the video connector so you can use a custom made RGB cable. Why would you want to do that? Because, as far as image quality on CRT screen goes, RGB is the best.

How come you don't heat the board from underneath? That way you'll be heating the epoxy in the areas where heat is conducted, which is where you'd need it the most anyway.
@Voultar6 жыл бұрын
Sure, you could put the board on a heater. But then you're going to be dropping all of the surface mount components on the underside layer.
@KP90016 жыл бұрын
Voultar But it sounded like your heat gun didn't get that hot. Just hot enough to platicize the epoxy. Also, I'm just getting started in this modding thing as a hobby. I don't believe that's a 2-part epoxy, you can't normally just lightly heat epoxy to break it like that - that looks more like an elastomer. I'm betting on Silastic or one of it's derivatives. They're both polymers, but act differently.
