I bought the 33 teaburst off of Craigslist for a whole $150. I love this guitar. Beautiful and really comfy to play. Only thing I wish it had is a whammy bar. I use it very sparingly - just to add some nuances to it, but otherwise, beautiful guitar for a phenomenal price. Use it and my PRS CE22 as my main 2 guitars.

I played one yesterday, and was totally happy with the tones I got out of it..it's really versatile, a mixture of a TIGHT aggressive tele and (les paul with good highs) and not dull sounding which I find many les paul copies and les pauls to sound like...sounded similar to my Joan Jett Gibson, it had that type of growlilng to the pickups when played on a fender blues junior with overdrive on half and full...very usable tones throughout...I wasn't expecting to like it much but was pretty shocked

I've been looking at Epiphones in this price range, and the Vox is a very strong contender, light as a feather with a great neck. Great, now I have to make a decision

Great review Murph! You remind me of the great Robbie MacIntosh for some reason.I love the sound of this guitar.and hearing you play it makes it seem like a solid stable instrument.Frets, bridge, pickups and tuners all seem well made. Thanks,Danny

Very good review. Thanks! I played a SSC 55 the other day through a Vox AC30 amp and through a small Laney LC15 and I would go as far as to say that these are about the best sounding, most beautifully and originally designed AND most beautiful guitars of them all. Has similarly priced Epis, Gibsons, Squiers, Fenders, ESPs/LTDs, Yamahas, Ibanez', PRS's and what-have-you for breakfast. I do not own one (yet!) but that's only because I already have a good collection of axes which I do not want to part with (call me sentimental) whilst my girlfriend threatens to leave the house should I get more guitars. ;-)) Mind you, we live in a not-too-spacious flat and we have two kids (= new blood to the six-string-world ;-) ) ... PS: Just to round it off: My main guitars are a 2011 Gibson SG Special Limited (w/ Dirty Fingers PUs), a Korean made Epi SG 400 in satin worn brown with GFS PUs and one heavily modified Fender Road Worn Series Strat (MiM).

Thanks for the review. I own a SDC-33 silver. It's beautiful and very comfortable. To answer some of the questions below: no hum at all in any position, which is great, and the fretboard is almost flat and very easy to play. I don't see much difference between the lead and the clean tone in my guitar, though. I wonder which amp do you (Murph) use, and if this has something to do with the tone differences (I am using a Blackstar ID-Core 10 V2, and I guess you are using a valv amp). Thanks!

Thanks for nice explanation of the Coaxe pickups. How I understand, the 2 independent coils in the pickup have 4 ends and can be switched between single-coil and humbucking mode? In case only single coil, hum must appear such as Fenders single pickups... Did you observe any hum in this mode?

I think it might be better (for me) if it had two coil tap knobs so I could make one cool split or both. I hate the idea of slapping toggles around when I'm trying to play

Looks nice but he used far too much gain at the end of the video and didn't really give us a chance to hear how it handles overdrive /distortion,that was more like a heavy fuzz, smeh

@slimakaphatj1 Ok, youtube kid. I had a bad day and decided to vent on this dude. Not to be taken literally, but more as a joke of sorts. No disrespect to musicians of any kind. And none to this gentleman either. Just pissed at him because he can play this guitar, and I just have to watch videos of it. Take care, slim aka phat jay.
