I got the VOX Stomplab IIB and it is fuggin amazing, I wanted the Zoom but I've had a zoom multi effects pedal in the past and they sound too synthetic so I wanted to try something new and the VOX has successfully blow my mind with the expression pedal being able to control the value and intensity of certain effects is just too awesome! I've been playing bass for 25 years and the VOX allows me to reproduce Justin Chancellor bass , Cliff Burton bass , Peter Steele and much more so for 30 bucks less and its capabilities I can live without the rhythm section and looper , loopers are for guitars, a bass riff over a bass riff isn't necessary in my book. Both are cool but the VOX is a damn good deal ,a solid pedal with unreal sounds and abilities if you know what you're doing.

Zoom B1 is a tinkers dream with a drum machine, looping and usb control/firmware updating (it's pretty nuts the options you have) The Vox sounds warm and fatter sounding very tube like without the the cool drum machine and a looping. Play and go basically. Both would be perfect with headphones for private practice anywhere on the go.

The vox was my first pedal a few years back. Forgot about the battery and it corroded part of the circuit board that controlled the pedal (eep - lesson learned) but the selectors still worked. It's just packed up and I'm buying another. Easy to use and good value for what you get. The zoom looks good with a lot in 1 pedal though. Good video.

My bass is passive so I wouldn't know. Surely you could just lower the level of the bass's active output though... It'd be a shame to have to settle for the Zoom when the Vox sounds so much better :) #gearfacts

Awesome vid. I've been going back and forth on these. Decided to get the Vox. In this video the Vox just sounds more full and bassy. Just got mine yesterday and still need time to fiddle around with it, but out of the box seems easy to use. Which do you find easier to program and go through the sounds? Which is more user friendly? Thanks.

I think the Vox "wins" here, but only by a nose...the Vox tones seemed more bass-specific, if maybe also more mid-scooped. And the "chorused grit" on the Vox sounded more like a flanger, to me at least. I think I liked the pedal dist better on the Zoom. But overall, really close. Also, I must say, the Zoom looks much more robust. The Vox looks REALLY flimsy and cheaply made, and the white "chickenhead" knobs are not my thing, but it does sound good...that's most important, right?

Hey! Great video. Just what people out there want! But I am still struggling. The issue is: I have a Zoom G5n, a really great-great thing, I just love it (yes, I had nothing else, but, it doesn't even matter). Now I am buying a bass, so I need something. I could use my thing for all the effects... But is it worth buying the VOX for the bass amp and cab simulation? Or maybe I should just get a preamp pedal, or even a bass overdrive/fuzz (as I know, you can't play bass through guitar OD, because it cuts you the low end, and tone gets muddy). So could you please suggest something?) Thanks!
@gearfacts4 жыл бұрын
Well if you've already had the Zoom experience, I'd be inclined to go for the Vox. It's trickier to use (I've made a tutorial about that, so no worries) but has a really natural sound in its drives, and the bass synths are superb. Of the hundreds of items I've reviewed, I think the Stomplab 2 for bass is a real hidden gem.

Hey man, once again saluting you an the same issue of bass effects :). Question - does this have the same processor as tghe MS 60 B. O own the latter (really dig it), but, as trying to recomand it to a buddy, noticed that it got about 40 bucks more expensive then 1 year ago. And the,n saw this one - 1 extra effect _ looper + drums + software.... I really wonder if it sounds the same. what do you think? Of course, wanna get the Vox too,some time soon. :)
@gearfacts4 жыл бұрын
Hi again, I couldn't tell any difference between the overall tone of the B1xFOUR and the MS60B. I think it's a matter of physical design. If you aren't a touring musician then I think the B1FOUR offers much better value. I may have said it before, but I think the Vox sounds better than both, although it has none of the special features, mainly the looper and the drums.
@camildumitrescu37034 жыл бұрын
@@gearfacts oh, i am..hardly touring this time around, and also, I am working with electronic instruments, I am not a bass player. @camildumitrescu37034 жыл бұрын
in my case it would obviously make more sens to get the vox atm. cos I already cover most of the Zoom sound palette with my 60B.. It sounds warm and fuzzy, i like it - and I'm looking mostly at the modulation effects synth /wah/filter/bitcrush/weird stuff - the delay/reverb aspect is more then covered with what i got by now...

Thanks for the review.. I ended up getting them both to try them as a practice headphone amp..I can clearly see that the vox has much better sound qualities... a shame that it has not been updated to compete with Zoom...
