I was in the studio when this was filmed. It was all recorded in one take... the backing track was played into one channel while David played along to it. It all went down live and we just took a direct line out of the TonelabLE. Amazing.

Hello! One of the cool new features of the TonelabLE is expanded amp/line out features. Of note, it has three different amp out modes voiced for use with VOX, "Black 2x12" type combos, and "UK Stack" amps. You can either use one of those modes to match the TonelabLE to an amp from those three major brands OR you can bypass the TonelabLE's amp modeling all together if you'd just like to use all its effects with your favorite amp of choice.

Hey guys, Just wanted to respond to the debte over whether the SE or LE sounds better, here are a couple things to consider. The LE is 24 bit...the SE is 20 bit. Also, the SE is now discontinued in the US. So, if you love that unit, get one while you can. Other than that, the LE is really no different in terms of sound engine (and quality) compared to the SE...in fact, the expanded line out features make it more customizable when interfacing with amps or live PA's.

Keep in mind this is recorded direct into a mini-mixer and then into a video camera, then compressed on KZbin. There's a modeled live console EQ you can access to fatten the unit up as much as you care to. It's a big plus that the previous Tonelabs didn't have.

Other possibles pedalboards are: - Zoom g9.2tt (great distorsion... a bit plastic sound on my opinion...) - Pod x3 live (ok great sound for guitar effect. nothing to mention. but there are a lot of functions that i will never use (like bass & voice effects... amp & cab simultors and much more... maybe is to expansive for my way of using it). - GT-10 i try it... dist sounds are to noisy! like a bee... zzz but great ambient effects. Thanks for any opinion. Giovanni

It definitely seems decent, but did Vox (and Marshall) only try participating in the modeling vogue from 15-20 years ago because Fender began participating first?

@deadringer13 i tested it in the music shop, just pluged in the headphones and the sound was perfect. preamp does it's work perfectly. you don't need a head. headphones or speakers.
@joe4485013 жыл бұрын
@gummyform Pretty close, you do plug your guitar chord from you guitar to the unit, but after that you need speakers of some sort. The best thing to use, i have found, is a keyboard amp with the treble and bass set evenly - that way, you are only getting the sound of the effect unit. You can, however, plug a pair of headphones if you just want to practice.
@metebelis17 жыл бұрын
Not mentioned on this video is the free software that connects to the LE. This allows you to tweak everything so much more easily than on the unit itself. Also forget the presets - you can get so much better sounds out of the LE yourself.

Superior !? Not today but 15 years ago it was for sure. Today we have Headrush pedal board, line ⁶ helix, Neural and Kemper just to name a few of the big dogs ! I had the Vox biggest pedal board and or was great but today the only thing that sounded good to me was the greatest Headrush pedal board and I got it way cheap before the COVID Nwo price hike.

@MrJackanthony Thanks for asking, if you change from a program with the same delay type...say "stereo delay" to another program with "stereo delay" the effect spills over to next program. Changing between programs with same ambient FX, no cut-off. More details in manual.

I DO think that there's a wider variety effects on the GT-10. Typo. My bad. If you gig with a band or have a proper loop pedal, I'd say that the higher sound quality on the ToneLab LE gives it the edge. If you're into goofing off in your bedroom more, like me, the looper and wider selection of effects is pretty important. I like that you can assign most of the effects to the expression pedal on the ToneLab. The best is when you are fingerpicking an arpeggio and suddenly reverb swells in.
@jakebland199016 жыл бұрын
i have one, i love it. the worst thing about it is that you cant use the clyde mccoy wah at the same time as using any of the other pedal models, i think this was a big mistake on vox's behalf. the wah should be a seperate part. but unfortunately its not.

I've had it for 2 years and I love it. But i have one problem. How to switch on Noise Reduction?.
@joe4485013 жыл бұрын
@Hertsman50 I agree. Having used a variety of amps and processed amp boards, i'm more inclined to go with a very simple Fender Twin, a few pedals, and that's about it. I did, however, get this to sound decently by going into a keyboard amp and turning the VR down to about 2 - 3.5 on most of the saved settings. But yeah, an actual tube amp is the way to go, in my opinion.
@DrCyb16 жыл бұрын

I have played one of these. It really is a great product, but I struggled to get a BM tone I could stand. If you want BM tone I would go with a tube amp, and a Treble boost over anything modeling. I was more satisfied with a Epiphone Valve Junior and a Treble boost than anything I found on this. The good thing about this is ALL (and I mean ALL) the other great tones you can get out of it.

It explains in the writeup at the top right of the page that "it was recorded directly" without an amp... for direct recording its not bad and with a good tube amp it should sound a whole lot better.. I think the company wanted to show off its sound recprded directly into a recorder without a mike or an amp.

Thanks for posting this. I've read all the reviews, but seeing is believing. I'm contemplating either upgrading my pedals but this is definately more bang for the buck. Heck, just the pedal board, a Boss gigadelay & Digitech Brian May pedal is nearly $600, & that's what I've been looking at. This might have sealed the deal.

You can tell at the beginning the pick attack is something that you wont get in a Line 6. Some of the "heavy" sounds remind me of the Johnson J-Station which to me was better than Line 6 for "faking" sounds. The line 6 jazz clean was better than the Johnson though. I'm sure with all the tweaking I've done on J and 6 that I can get this to work for me just fine.

I'm an italian guitar player and i'm looking for a pedal bord form live performances and home recording. I'm interested in: 1. Pink Floy/ led zeppelin sounds. 2. Using it with my Marshall valvestate s40 (i don't need amp & cab sim) the question is: is the tonelab LE ok for my job? i tried it and i found it very user friendly and sounds great. some effects are not yet implemented (and maybe never will be implementented) like: - harmonizer (intell. pitch shift) - bass simulator - synt guitar

@UKToneKing Ok, you made me watch the video again so as to point out something that even a beginner would have picked up on. 2:37 to 2:40 - he taps a bit, noobishly, then jumps further up the neck about 7 halftones into an alternate picking motion and slips to the 8th halftone by mistake, then goes back to the right one. He doesn't play with his fingers, he plays the guitar with his arms. His hands look very tense, his movement looks very indecisive. Reminds me of myself 10 years ago.
