That Les Paul has a really nice look with the wood patterns. And the fret inlays are quite pretty too.

It was a PRS but I sold it later - it never really was a Les Paul and certainly did not cound like what I expected from one so it had to go. Thanks for watching.

I literally just ordered one of these and am now trying to figure out the best way to use it. I have an emulator amp (fender mustang lt25) and the fuzz effect is incredible and so is the pink floyd tone but the auto wah is absolutely woeful and totally destroys the fuzz tone when you overlay the two. Cant wait for it to arrive and annoy my neighbours some more

Plug it in the front end and hey presto.... Hendrix without the Hendrix :) Stay safe.

I think you'll find it says on the back plate 'NOTE : THIS UNIT CONTAINS A BATTERY WHICH IS CONNECTED WHEN A PLUG IS INSERTED INTO THE INSTRUMENT JACK. FOR LONGEST BATTERY LIFE, ALWAYS REMOVE INSTRUMENT CABLE FROM JACK WHEN NOT IN USE'. They use one of those input jack sockets that have two contacts that connect and complete the circuit when you plug in the lead. I have a few of those jack sockets which are a little different from the one in your wah pedal but do the same thing.

This is especially interesting, because I see this video is from 2014, and I can see that sometime between then and now, a number of changes were made, and not for the better. I was surprised to see that less than 10 years ago they were still using through-hole PCB boards and metal input and output jacks. I don't know when they changed, but in pictures of the current 847A, they use surface mount, and those cheap plastic housed jacks. They do offer the V846 hardwired model now though, and that is definitely made more like the old ones, if not even better. They use a turret board and premium quality components -- I don't know if they even made them that good in the 60s/70s. Mind you, it costs twice the price of a V847, but i think it might be a worthwhile investment for a lasting product.

Great info and thanks for posting it! I also have a video of Thomas Organ wah's through the ages here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rn2pooRspcuAnac and thanks for watching.

silly things to worry about. those "cheap plastic housed jacks" are inside many BOSS pedals of mine, from the 90's that have lasted the last 30 years just fine. surface mount components is another non-factor. it doesnt impact tone nor durability. so what if it wasnt the way they were made in the 60's... people complain when the prices are kept down with SMC or plastic housed jacks, then complain when hand wired costs too much. just buy one and crack on with creating, recording music. @darwinsaye

Hey, I used to work for a subcontractor for Duracell and I'm a drummer. They wouldn't put me on the front since I got sacked....well well well, a guitarist with a sense of humour and carries the drums? You're certainly a rare one. BTW, there is a less pricey version of this pedal, less the chrome, with a Union Jack. And, oddly, it's made in the USA as well.

That's so funny :) I'm not sure on the VOX thing but the Cry Baby (not the vox one but the Dunlop one) is also out there as there is also countless others no doubt. I like the original Cry Baby best as it can reach parts that other pedals cannot :) for me it is really the most used pedal I own bar none. Not too sure about the Union Jack version... I have not used one and there are variances. The VOX one is sure to be higher priced with that chrome on there... Hendrix used an original VOX one... check some of his live vids you will see it.

It looks good LOL... but would you pay $13500 for it? I would not. To be fair, once you do play it you can tell it has its own benefits... but not $13500 worth!

Great clip! Love the playing at the end. Bit of a 'Live And Dangerous' vibe to my ears. Wah is a great effect that seems to go in and out of fashion like flares and big collars. I like to use it more as a super tone than a rhythmic device. Some players did, and maybe still do, kinda wah themselves silly but like you say 'if it was good enough for Jimi...'. I used to have a Schaller volume pedal that just seemed to be a volume pot in a box with an in and an out which you could use either way. Some folk thought that the tone changed depending on how you plugged it in. I've often pondered if a similar device could be rigged up with a simple tone pot. Would that be a wah? Best wishes to you and yours.

Thanks for watching Alex. When you get a wah just right the notes flow big time (at least they do for me) somehow it does make me play different than when I never use one on a track. Thanks for watching and that other info you posted.

Hi! Tony, Great video as usual. Back in the late '60's I bought a Burns Nusonic guitar, a carlsboro tranny amp and this WAH WAH pedal here in Sydney. We returned to England (Liverpool) in '72, hit hard times and had to sell my gear. Believe me if I could get one of those pedals now I'd pay whatever. It was a Wah/Volume pedal and I reckon it was Coloursound but my brother reckons it was called Carlsboro. I know I'm right. Really, it would kill any of these new ones. By the way that Burns guitar was brilliant too, I believe the guitarist with Echo and the Bunnymen ended up with it. Great vids man, keep it up. Cheers, Spud

Wasn't Jimi Hendrix Purple Pedal made like Digitech? I remember Adrian Belew talking about it.

You're right... it was Digitech... it was a while ago I had one. For me the regular Cry Baby was far better and sounded better too.

***** Isn't digitech pedal some kind of modelling instead of only wah? I'll have to do some research.

wiziek It did a load of stuff and had a 'special mode' for the Jimi sound.. but to me it was never that. There probably was a wah (literally) in there but it did have all that other stuff messing it around somewhat. Came in a purple holder too and if I remember correctly a 'Jimi' pick LOL.

It won't adjust any it's already to it's maximum so I'll just have to push a lot harder or cut them rubber boots a little

In fact I 'cut the rubber' a little on one some while back. Take a sharp razer and 'slice' them a bit at a time - you don't want it too much... thanks.
