Prathibha ji has left out one very important point according to me. Everything is difficult, boring at first, but with time and constant exposure, we start to love it. That's how I fell in love with Carnatic Music. I think it is Quintessential that students must have constant exposure to concerts, especially live ones. This makes even a person who hates Carnatic music but has an open mind start to love Carnatic Music.

I come from non-carnatic region where hindustani music is practiced traditionally. I think Carnatic music is very divine, sweet and melodious. It's not at all boring. Carnatic is my recent discovery, i got exposed to it during 2020 lockdown. I ardently follow Vidushis Ranjani and gayathri and Kuldeep pai ji. I'm yet to discover more and more excellent Carnatic artistes. I wish I could also learn Carnatic music someday. 🙏♥️

Being a carnatic music student from 3 4 years, if u feel bored of carnatic raagas or music , its clear that u haven't understood the actual raaga bhava or beauty of Gamakas and its usage even I am working on that to make sure it sounds better 😊

I am a small time carnatic music teacher who tries to learn more along with teaching students.......Sometimes students are good and ready to learn, but the parents who don't know and are not exposed to Carnatic music field are just impatient and want their wards to show off to their friends or relatives their singing skills and so keep pressurizing teachers to teach songs in short time.....I do not want to bring out caste issue here, but yes they do matter when it comes to respecting this Carnatic music field and how different and divine as compared to the film songs....But when the families watch the music reality shows where children are singing, they just want their children to be on that stage fast as possible....They just don't understand that many of the children who sing on these stage shows and popular playback singers are Carnatically trained and it takes years and loads of patience for them to be there!!

Karnatic music is boring when structure and analysis exeeds aesthetic limits, excess circus and acrobatics kills the ' bhava;' or transcendaendal mood of raagas, but exceptions are there like the rendering by m,d ramanathan etc,

Hey prathiba.. I learnt carnatic music for almost 7 years during my 7th to 12th std.. But i took that as lightly.. Classes were for 2 days.. And that was a mere extra curricular for me.. I did sing in skl choir.. But its been 8 yrs now.. I'm completely out of practise.. I think I need to refresh everything I learnt and also I didn't learn about these swaras and ragas, singing ragas much during my classes.. I could hardly identify swaras Or ragas and i need to improve on gamakas .. I'm in between, not a raw beginner and not an expert.. Which bundle of course should I try to get on line again

Great to know you wanna get back to practice! You could explore either the voice culture combo or the beginners bundle. It would be a good brush up before you take more advanced lessons.

I love both Carnatic and Hindustani music. the problem however is that the general expectation is that you need to know the nuances to enjoy the music. Without any knowledge of nuaances, one can enjoy, film music, a movie, or a Tv show. However, it gets a little bit difficult to watch carnatic music is that you seem lesser off, if you do not match beat for beat with the musicians. That seems an implicit expectation in a Sabha audience. Second problem is relatability, for common audience. This I am saying as a regular visitor to many concerts both carnatic and hidustani

During my school days I cursed the shopwala adjacent to my house for his free broadcast of A I R Nilaya Vidvangal performance during noons [only alapana - endless ]. I was a big zero. It took years for me to know that a nice song will follow those 'thadharinna's - when I had an opportunity to attend a stage performance. That was a old story now. Thanks to Social media.

Wow! You read my mind exactly. As a child ,some 55 years ago,my parents insisted on my learning carnatic music.I used to resist it saying , “ it is always sasa riri gaga”.Instead I used to enjoy Bollywood movie songs. Of course the current day facilities for learning music ( Carnatic or Bollywood songs) were not available then. Now I am 64 years old and I have the interest as well as the time to learn music. I find your channel immensely useful and interesting. I am sure there are many more like me.Thank you

Karnatic music is sounding boring or over the top or even comical sometimes because the of the artists.There are pritams and then Rahman's in the music world.Over emphasis on technique kills the art.And conveyed the right energy or emotion in a song is important.A bhakti song should not be sung like an aggressive way as if depicting a war scene.

I strongly feel that there needs to be an intermediary between professional Carnatic singers and common people. Otherwise people don't get exposed and have no interest in ragas, talas, etc. In my case, singing bhajans in religious centers gave me the interest in classical Indian music.

@Nandakii2 жыл бұрын
@@kanikagautam8545 because I don't think there is something called Thayam. Thanam is a part of Mano dharma sangitam, (improvisational music) It's quite close to Drupad in Hindustani music. It's usually of the syllables Tha, Nam, Nom. Thus the name. It's usually sung after a long Alapana called Ragam, and is followed by a Pallavi (usually a one line composition) together known as Ragam Thanam Pallavi (rtp). Hope that helps.
@Nandakii2 жыл бұрын
Or perhaps you mean Thaya Ragamalika, the form unique to BMK. That is when the Raga remains the same, but some minute phrases from different Ragas are included in the rendering.
