You did really well. Good call to get out and ahead of the crowds. I learned that in the Tubbs Wildfire evacuation. Gosh I’m sorry you’re experiencing PTSD and thank you for posting the possibilities of cruising. I think I would’ve lost it.

If that cruise is still sailing, passengers find comfort in knowing that the Voyager of the Seas was architecturally designed to recover from a list of 45 degrees in the case of severe storms! Watch your footing and stay safe!
@ozymandias7940
@ozymandias7940 4 ай бұрын
Lmao... 45deg list? 😂 5-8deg list at the worst. Nowhere near 45deg, she's just heaving on heavy seas. The ship would have to be in a state of Parametric Roll Movement (PRM) to roll severely. That anomaly usually only occurs to container or car carriers that have flared fore & aft hulls. However, in extreme conditions when the sea strikes the quarter of a vessel at an angle of 45deg relative to the ships heading, it can also cause PRM to occur. However unlikely.

I was in the windjammer and it was pretty terrifying as my husband and I were directly next to the large windows of the very back edge of the ship when we tilted. We had to literally cling onto part of a wall in order to not fall. People were falling over, plates and carts crashing, water eventually came through to the buffet and several other decks. Much of the staff were taking pics and videos and thats when we knew it was a bad storm…

You’re being a little dramatic. The shop is listing slightly. You don’t have PTSD. There was no explosion.

List in this context is not list like activity or routine or toll. It means tilt or lean over that doesn't completely turn over as not fully capsize.

Glad no one was killed but I know that there had to be an outrageous number of various stages of injury. I was on Voyager in October and am booked for April 6th. Not too sure if the ship will have to go to dry dock, there is an awful amount of damage. 😊

I was on this sailing. The Carnival Dream went through the storm. She was just a few miles from us. Voyager did not ! In fact I checked cruise mapper and made a big figure 8. Hit squall line. Made a turn to port. Turned south. Then back to starboard. Before ever getting back on course to Galveston. That explains first the list to starboard. Then 20 minutes later listed to port. The chandeliers shook. Booze bottles fell in the shops and bars. Water was pouring in from balcony doors not sealing well. It went into some hallways. I have been on 45 cruises. Many during the winter. This was a first. From balcony I could not see skyline, only water. Something is not right with this ship. This was not my first time on this ship. I thought back in October it rocked a lot in relatively calm waters. Never again on Voyager. I cancelled a cruise we had booked.

My wife and some crew thought I was nuts checking the different decks during this storm. Some crew were really scared. Along with the passengers. Some even went to the chapel with their life vests on.

I really don't see the fun in cruises. Its like living full time in a mall.

@stevenvecciarelli4679 8 ай бұрын
If the mall went to different countries with beautiful beaches, had various shows and entertainment, and fine dinning I could see your point. And if you get a room with a balcony, its like booking a hotel overlooking the ocean. So yes, I see how it's like a mall.

A storm in the ocean isn't a surprise; the listing and sliding and slot machines falling on people, was more than anyone could have expected.
@lme4603
@lme4603 7 ай бұрын
Slot machines from my understanding weigh well over 250 pounds and easy 400. That could crush or seriously hurt someone. The cruise line should absolutely have those secured appropriately, sounds like it was not. So I do see your point. That’s a fail on the safety of guests. Machines should be prepared to withstand a rocking ship.

@wwerty234. You can become out of breath with stress, I assume you were on this ship, I expect you were so very brave, nothing bothered you,and you played your ukelely as the ship went down! Ships are meant to stay upright, so this was out of the ordinary, have compassion for those of less stalwart being!

You have to understand that this event took place suddenly . She was barely able to catch this experience at the last minute. It’s not like she had time to go grab a gimbal. You really have to be there in person on the ship to really experience that. Special thanks to the person filming for sharing this horrendous experience with us.
