really appreciate Major French teaching us these valuable 'everyday skills'. "Knowing is half the battle!" also kudos to Dux and the online VPS pinball spreadsheet. that really is a gold mine of information he maintains.

Great tutorial. I used to keyboard to modify the view and i was not aware at all that button of the pincab can be used. I will test it this evening and particularly the Z axle Thank you to simplify our life.

Great tutorial Major Frenchy. I often forget the F key trick and do it the old fashioned way. One tip I may also add, is to export the POV to the tables folder once you're happy with the result, because if you replace the table with one that's been updated, you lose all that work 🙂

I am brand new to VPX and this video was what I was looking for. The part that confuses me is that F5 play game is available under the "TABLE" tab, but once I load in the 1 table I have, there is no F6 camera/light/material edit mode. What am I doing wrong can someone help me? Please note that I am using VP 9.9.2. Also please note that when I opn Visual Pinball without any table, under the TABLE tab there is "camera/light/material" with NO F6 next to it. When I load my table in, that disappears. Thanks in advanced for any help that you provide.

How did you get VPX to show multiple views (the table and the back glass) on desktop at the same time?

Hi, and thanks for all your hard work in the vpin community. Question: Is there a way to change pov files "on the fly" with a hot key after a table is loaded? I'm thinking similar to FX3, of which you can choose between 8 different povs.

Great job Major only thing I would add is changing POV has not effect on game play or balls being stuck its just visual. Also always keep your x and y scale is close to 1 as possible its ok for x to be less than one to fit. Do not stretch the y on the table like Rajo likes to do it distorts the look imho. Z offset is you digital camera and your friend. I will be sharing alternate povs as well as sharing Hauntfreaks pov links which I like so much better on the pinball junkies facebook site.
@MajorFrenchy4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your tip. Much appreciated. If I lower the z I had the ball stuck below a ramp, might have just been a fluke. If you have a new set, let me know I will update the video description.
@jamos57104 жыл бұрын
@@MajorFrenchy z offset or scale? never lower the scale. Z offset is just your camera position it has no effect on table. Some of Hauntfreaks table povs below I do not agree with all of them but they give you a good idea of keeping scale close to 1:1 from Hauntfreaks again if you want 1:1 ratio .... then you would set the XYZ to 1 and set the Z offset to size and fill the X axis. x scale can be lower than 1 it will not affect viewing. drive.google.com/drive/folders/1QMAIuiP_xWsaZYcNn_djkmz8FXobqFz5 My few ones I have tweaked which i think look better in my cabinet. www.dropbox.com/sh/a4i33wmfwteflsx/AABGBwwT0DipvpNB5CmgSA-xa?dl=0

Thank you! I was messing around with the camera stuff but never really got where I wanted. Those POV files are really good 👍 I do sim racing and to have a correct field of view helps alot when driving. Is that the case with virtual pinball also? Easier to hit shots and so on?

that was a great video... I would like to see something if it possible to get some preset pov like in future pinball. Is that an issue? or is it in the pipeline? like you could save presets from other members that are so cool that it could be shared and stored... Let me know if it could be a thing.
@MajorFrenchy2 жыл бұрын
You can totally share VPX POV and use someone else, for future pinball, that might be tricky because you can't export your config.

Hi Major! I have a problem. The XY rotation is at 270 in my table's configuration. When I import the POV the rotation switches to 0 and the table is not in the correct way like yours in your video. I did the exact same steps as you in your video. I tried it on the same table as you too

Make sure you have FSS Mode unchecked.

@LCOmusic4 жыл бұрын
@@ericmongeau5472 does the table have X- and Y-Offsets? Those values probably need to be swapped because the X axis is now the Y axis and vice versa. Edit - same goes for X- and Y-Scale, etc.

I have my cab playfield in portrait, so I have my rotation to 0, do you know with those pov's that you can download, would the rotation likely need to be changed?
@MajorFrenchy4 жыл бұрын
Those POV files in the Mega are for cabinet views. Once you set yours for Desktop, you can always export them .
@LCOmusic4 жыл бұрын
If those POVs are set up for landscape, it’s pretty easy to change the rotation of each table from 270 to 0 at the same time with a batch find-and-replace tool called FnR.exe - findandreplace.io/overview Point it to the folder where your POVs live and tell it to replace “270.000000” with “0.000000” (copy and paste the value from one of POVs with the surrounding XML tag, that way you are using the right number of decimal places). *** You may need to tweak some other settings; I think any POVs utilizing X and Y offsets will need to have those values either switched or just reset to 0, because the axes were defined assuming a 270 rotation instead of 0. I just did this recently, so I haven’t play tested enough tables after batch converting to portrait to confirm. (EDIT - due to the direction of this rotation, I think the new X offset will have the wrong sign after swapping X and Y; in other words it may be negative where it should be positive. So, if the playfield appears partially off-screen, try flipping the sign to see before resorting to manual tweaking or zeroing out the offsets.) Note also that with a portrait playfield you are probably also going to fight an uphill battle with PinUp Player and Popper. So far it’s the only software I’ve set up on my cab that refuses to accept negative values for screen coordinates. The top-left corner of the primary display (which has to be the playfield monitor if I recall correctly) will be defined as 0,0 with negative values being above and left of that point, which effects the DMD and Backglass displays. I’m hoping that manually writing negative position values to the config file will function as a workaround, because I don’t feel like bothering Nailbuster with a request to officially change the accepted ranges of all of the input validation functions (and as far as I can tell PinUp is closed-source, so forking or offering a PR is not an option).
@2hrsweekly9224 жыл бұрын
@@LCOmusic yeah, I've already fought those battles with pinup player and popper and got it all working to my liking, it thankfully wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but I think that's because I started out that way at the beginning
@LCOmusic4 жыл бұрын
@@2hrsweekly922 ah, very good. It’s not a problem if you’re ok with defining your other screens as being located off to the right of the playfield, but I’m still hoping I can find a way to define them where they actually are in relation to one another, because it’s unintuitive to do it any other way and I guess that bothers me too much to just accept it.
