Well, I never ended up doing this, but I come back to it like... once every few months since this kind of pretty hair is the type I wanna model. Yesterday, during a bout of sleeplessness, I actually manage to draw some hair that I'm satisfied with, and I'm going to use what I'm learning here to make it happen. My hope is I actually do it this time.

I love the little comments you added about your experiences. I always go through so many iterations of hair for my characters before i decide on one, but it always takes me hours, if not days to finally feel happy with one. I thought I was doing something so so wrong! so thanks for reassuring me haha. It's just the creative process!

im glad you liked it!! personally i love having very flowy hair, so i add bones to almost every strand (for long hair) of course it can be optimised better, but that is entirely up to you how you want to rig it. things like, opti models and even quest models will need less bones ofc! but i usually dont work with long hairs like this for those types of models c:

@@slt4463 I don’t retopo because I poly model, no need for retopology when the topo is good to begin with, polys don’t matter in vrc and honestly 200k isn’t the worst. My recent models have all been low 100k my most recent being 69k, this is because I keep my topology good as I’m working rather than needing to redo it later on. Adds unneeded hours to the modelling process imo, works for others but not me!
